Wild pre-wedding hair

Bulbasaur, on September 8, 2017 at 1:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

I want to do something crazy with my hair, like dye it purple, blue, and green. Only thing is I don't want it to be those colors for my wedding (12/30/17). Anyone know how quickly that will fade? I'm naturally a dark blonde, and don't feel bad about dying my hair back. I just don't have any experience with this sort of thing, and don't know how complicated it will make life. Any advice is helpful. Thanks!

You might damage your hair changing colors that quickly. There's also temporary colors that wash out gradually

I would not chance it if i was you. everyone's hair will react differently to different colors. yes, you can always dye it back, but when you start messing with hair like that its not always promised that it will go back to "normal"

I'd just get clip in extensions. Not worth the risk.

Be so so careful. Talk to a super experienced, color specializing, stylist about this.

I would wait until after the wedding.

Color reacts differently to different types of hair- for example, it took 1.5 years to get red out of my mine. Your wedding is only 3 months away so going "wild" now is SUPER risky -- and getting back to your natural color isn't always as easy as it sounds...

I wouldn't do it. That's going to damage your hair really badly. Talk to an experience colorist

Thanks, everyone. I had the same thought, but wanted to make sure. Looks like it's natural colors for me! Maybe highlights or something...

You could see a/your hairstylist and do a demipermanent that will wash out in the shower after so many shampoos.

Otherwise, I wouldn't change your color this close...

Your wedding is right around the corner. I wouldn't experiment with anything new this close to the day.

Try Manic Panic semi-permanent colors. It fades out after a month or two, does't damage your hair, and you won't have to worry about dying it back to your natural color.

I've dyed my hair a lot in the past few years, my suggestion is that if you're dead set on doing some funky color, avoid red. Red is EXTREMELY hard to get out when you're trying to back to natural. I dyed a piece of my hair red a year and a half ago, six months after that I tried going back to a natural brown and had a faded red where it was dyed before. Didn't bother me much, but it bothered my hair stylist a lot lol.

But yeah, not sure if I'd risk it three months out. You could also consider some of the chalking or "spray paint" sort of dyes if you just want to play with it for a week at a time or so.

ETA: find a stylist who's specialty is coloring hair. They'll have much better advice to give based on experience and what they can personally do.

It's probably best to wait until after the wedding and go to an experienced professional. But if your hair is dark blonde, certain manic panic colors might work on it without bleaching - purple would probably work, it's conditioning, and it would wash out very quickly.

Personally I am dying to chop all my hair off and it's killing me even though I just have a few weeks left to wait so I feel ya.

Don't risk it! Almost a year ago to this day FH and I dyed my hair green (avatar pic) for the Eagles/Steelers game with ion color brillance, thinking it would wash out easily. Fast forward 7 months later, still green, but a pukey/garbage shade. I finally sucked it up and went to a professional salon and had them bleach my hair....still could see the green! Three touch ups later and it's finally gone. I know the fact I did it at home did not help at all but I would still be skeptical of the professionals, especially so close to your big day

I have dyed my hair multiple colors and it never lasts more than a week, due to my constant washing (I wash my hair every day) and my blonde hair. I think you'll be fine. You have three months until your wedding. Just be prepared to have to go to the salon to get it redyed if in 2 months its still not out. You won't ruin your hair, you won't overly damage your hair, just don't bleach beforehand.

Save it as something to do to celebrate after three wedding. If you have time, do it right after the wedding before you leave for your honeymoon

I would hold off. Hair color is not a perfect science and everyone's head reacts differently.
