Disney Aulani?

Daniella, on July 17, 2017 at 9:34 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Has anyone stayed at the Disney Aulani resort? Or been to Oahu in general? We booked 8 days in December, and I want to know if there is anything we absolutely need to do! We'll be staying in a villa. They have so many excursions I don't even know where to start! Also I'm really excited because neither FH or I have been to Hawaii!

I've been. We hiked Diamondhead, went to the Dole Pineapple Plantation, and traded the touristy Waikiki Beaches for the less populated ones on the North Shore. We also flew to other islands where we did the Road to Hana Day Trip and helicopter ride over coastal waterfalls and active volcanos on the Big Island.

I live on Oahu Smiley smile you should definitely do a luau & go to the Polynesian Cultural Center! Plan to spend the whole day & night at Polynesian Cultural Center to visit all the different villages & do activities during the day, then enjoy their dinner buffet and watch their night show "HA" it's amazing!

I've been! You should totally book a day trip with Kevin from Escape Waikiki Tours. He was hands down our favorite part of our vacation. He also took pictures of us all day. When he dropped us off at the hotel, he airdropped me 200+ photos of us from the day. He was super personable too and an awesome way to see the whole island!

@FutureMrs I definitely have my eye on a helicopter tour! Ive heard great things about the Road to Hana.

@Ms.Macmen that is so cool. We aren't huge photo takers, it would be nice to have a bunch to remember the trip by.

I forgot to mention the luau mentioned above. We went on our last night and it was a really good time. I don't eat pork so I wasn't crazy about the meat selection but the drinks were great.

Just don't get stuck in Waikiki for the whole trip. Sure it's fun for a day, but the beauty of Hawaii is in the natural environment outside of the very densely populated urban core.

It's been a long time since I was in Hawaii... but one place has always stood out in my memories. There is/was a beautiful Buddhist temple called "Byodo-In Temple". It is a very serene place with stunning gardens worthy of a few hours of your time.

Definitely recommend the north shore! It's gorgeous and you should go to turtle beach while you're over there. It's so cool to see all the turtles. Also highly recommend Waimea valley as its so beautiful and it has a swimmable waterfall. That waterfall was one of our top faves of the trip when we went last August. Lastly hanauma bay is gorgeous and a great snorkel spot. You can find lots of trip tips on Pinterest and just by googling!

I've been spending a lot of time on Trip Advisor, but I haven't seen anything about turtle beach. That sounds so cool.

So I have never personally been to Aulani, however I worked for a major hotel chain with properties in Hawaii and I'll never forget speaking to one specific guest of ours. He was booking at our hotels property in Maui and mentioned how the year prior they did Aulani and really did not enjoy it. Now again, this is only his version, but he said that it was so hard to enjoy the hotel due to the amount of small children and multiple times during their stay the pool was closed due to "accidents" in the pool. There are always pros and cons to any hotel, but after talking to that guy i have always wondered about Aulani.

We did shark cage diving and that was awesome when FH and visited a while back. We're used to swimming with sharks in Florida but they're so tiny and you wouldn't even notice them, but these guys were huge!

Also, my photos is at the dole pineapple plantation!
