Disney Themed Wedding-Tangled (Help)

FutureMrsTurcios, on July 22, 2016 at 10:11 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 42

FH and I decided to have a Disney themed wedding (well I decided and he agreed) since Disney has been a big part of our relationship from the very beginning, so much so that he proposed while on one of our trips. So we decided to do a Tangled theme- for many reasons but we both clearly said we want to make sure it isn't overpowering to where it feels like we are at a child's bday party. We want it to still be classy/elegant. So that's where my issue lies. Idk exactly how to incorporate the theme without overdoing it.

I have some subtle things such as our colors- Regency, Lilac, Gold and White

I'm thinking of walking down the aisle to "I See the Light" (instrumental)

Our Card box will be Tangled theme. Thinking about a cake topper to say "Best Day Ever" and a sign at the guestbook table that says "You were my new dream...and you were mine"

Any suggestions of other little details I can add? I thought about adding flags to the courtyard and making it look like in the pic attached

Check out these discussions on others "Tangled" theme weddings. I know there was another one recently, but I couldn;t find it at a quick glance.

I actually think you already have a lot of great ideas! I wouldn't try to force in anything else. The flags would be a really cute touch though. Love that courtyard!

Yeah, I think that's enough personal touches along with the color scheme. Any more and you are heading into the childrens birthday party realm.

Honestly I've never even seen Tangled (probably like most adults) so I would have no idea that you were throwing a "theme" wedding.

I love Tangled and think it's a very sweet theme but I agree a lot of adults may not know what it is.

What about lanterns like these around the venue

Also Here are some ways to add that Tangled Theme to it:

DH and I had Disney touches for our wedding too...big fans, also proposed there Smiley smile You're on the right track here being aware that there is a line easily crossed into juvenile. While I didn't pick a specific character, I can give you an idea of some of the touches we had. You are also welcome to look at our pics on our share site: https://summerandjose.shutterfly.com/

Ceremony: didn't have many Disney touches here...I gifted DH a pair of classic Mickey black & white cufflinks that he wore and we both used the "grape soda" pin from the movie Up...his on his bout and mine on my bouquet. (I had given him the pin years before as part of a Valentine's gift, so it was a special memento for him personally) Probably all were unnoticed by most, but that's ok! There was one quick and lighthearted mention of Disney World in our vows as well. I also used a Mickey & Minnie Bride & Groom silhouette pen by the guest book on the entry table.

For the reception, we had the mickey & minnie bride and groom ear hats as part of our sweetheart table decor, custom disney-themed cake topper (that you can see in my avatar), and a custom disney GOBO projected on the wall (our DJ did this for us). Our favors included a custom monogram that mimicked the GOBO, but that was on the actual favor, not the packaging that we presented them in and I don't have a pic handy (we gave out guest-sized hand made lavender soaps, stamped with the monogram.) That's about as far as we took the theme, if you could even call it that. It was more just touches here and there, because they really reflected us.

Oh, I also gave a nod to Disney at the bottom of our info card in our invites, saying "We can't wait to share this magical day with you!" I included a Walt Disney quote at the bottom of our programs as well, giving him credit of course!

I think my biggest piece of advice is to take the themed touches that you want and make them fit into your overall look. Make them appropriate for the formality of a wedding. Most of the time, this will mean that you might need to have an idea in mind and have it custom made. Etsy is a GREAT place to start for stuff like that.

I personally wouldn't do the lags hanging. The inspiration pic is directly from Disney World's Tangled area, but I think hanging such an obvious reference will definitely look more birthday than wedding.

I think keeping it more to the references you've got, maybe hanging a few similarly styled lanterns (as in, without the sun symbol on them,) maybe use stacks of books for centerpieces, a frying pan guestbook. Subtle versus blatant is the line you have to walk with something like this.

We are literally having our wedding at Disney World. Aside from the references inherent with ANY Disney location (meaning hidden Mickeys), we really won't have any Disney theming. I chose my dress inspired you Belle's ball gown from Beauty and the Beast, and there will be a lot of roses, but beyond that, we're keeping it relatively low key. The only other possibility is that we MIGHT have a couple of character appearances during the reception for photo ops and the kids, but that's toeing the line for us, and they wouldn't necessarily be BatB related (DF's preference is Grumpy the dwarf, mine is of course Belle).

Just keep it simple and a nod to the movie, rather than an actual theme, and I think it'll be fine.

What about releasing floating lanterns into the sky? Make sure that your venue allows it 1st, of course.

Tangled is my favorite disney movie! But I think if you force it, it will turn into a childs birthday party. I LOVE the idea of the lanterns. That is so cute !

PLEASE Tell me you are going to release lanterns at the end! I wont be able to at my venue (no fire rule) but I totally wanted to incorporate that into my wedding and it would be a great way for you to incorporate Tangled into your wedding!

Disney bride here! Love Disney and got engaged there over Labor Day weekend! If you want you can get a cake topper to fit your theme (that's what we're doing) Amazon has some that are great and I'm sure there is a Tangled one! You could also make your table numbers be after movie characters or songs from the movie! And I love the use of lanterns it's so pretty!

I think yours sounds great but please PLEASE do NOT release floating lanterns. Just google how dangerous those are to animals and the environment and you'll see why that is a horrible idea.

Instead try the paper lanterns like Mimi suggested.

Totally thinking about walking to "i see the light".

Not to hijack your thread op but does anyone think itll be to much to do the lyrical version? Should I stick to instrumental?

Best way to get them theme without looking childish (IMO) is to stick with "adult" colors (gold is better than yellow, lilac is better than bright purple) space out bright colors with white and no "characters" anywhere but possibly the cake topper. I would something similar to the flags but not exactly, could you hang lanterns with LED lights in them between gold flags?

You can also go with a A-line dress and do you hair in flower braids similar to tangled.

You and your bridesmaids could braid your hair.

    Def do the lanterns.

Invitations could be very made to look very royal wedding-like
