Disney Themed Wedding

Private User, on April 24, 2012 at 8:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 52

My guy and I are wanting a Disney themed wedding, but we are unable to afford a Disney World wedding. Our wedding is in about a year in advance, but does anybody have any suggestions as to how we can do a Disney Themed wedding ourselves??

Thanks!

I'm doing a Disney themed wedding because I also can not afford to get married there. We are honeymooning there though! I'm wearing a ball gown that looks similar to belle's and walking to tale as old as time. While the guests are being seated were playing disneystore fairy tale weddings cd. There will be hidden mickeys and our guest book is going to be a 9 inch viynlmation. First dance is a Disney song and our cake topper is a bride and groom Mickey and Minnie and castle. I've wante to get married at Disney forever but it's just not in the budget. So the next best thing is to bring Disney to my hometown! Good luck with your wedding and let me know if you need any ideas or help planning!

Check out etsy.com for ideas or items that may be in your budget. there are Disney themed invites that you may be able to find at a discount with some research. Get your creative juices flowing. plan out what you would do if you had the money then work down from their on recreating it within your budget.

Anything is achievable if you work hard & believe ... :-)

I also am thinking of a Disney Princess themed wedding. I'm a huge Disney fan. My favorite is Belle but my dress is Alfred Angelo's Ariel dress and I am thinking of a precious moments Ariel and Eric cake topper. I was also thinking that the palce cards would have tiaras in the corner. We have not officially decided if our theme is Princess or Beach yet (our reception venue is on the beach but our reception is indoors). Our colors are pink and grey. Good luck with ideas! Those are all great ideas. See I have the Disney Wedding Cd. I'm thinking about having myself walk down to Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid. I really love the Alfred Angelo dresses, but personally..I love the Kirstie Allen ones too..and they don't sell those anymore as far as I know Smiley sad John jokingly suggested that he walk down to "You got a Friend in me" but I think that might be cute for all the bridesmaids/groomsmen to walk down to...seeing as how they are the "FRIENDS". Suggestions?

I love the idea of "You've got a friend in me" for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, so cute! Other good Disney songs (maybe not necessarily for the walk down the aisle) are the Beauty and the Best song, "A whole new world," "Can You Feel the Love Tonight"... I think the music could really make it classy.

Well Part of Your world is near and dear to my heart. I sang Little Mermaid when I was just barely old enough to sing. I had to watch it everyday..MULTIPLE TIMES..lol! I know it seems silly but the version I have of it is really pretty. So I don't seem silly with the You've got a friend in me thing! GOOD----I'll have to tell John now Smiley winking

    Any other ideas anyone?

OMG I love those cookies!!!! I'm almost gonna be mad if you don't have them at your wedding Smiley tongue lol

If you haven't already done engagement photos, what about re-enacting some of your favorite Disney scenes? Like Lady and the Tramp's meatball scene, or a still of Ariel singing to Prince Eric.....

Now, if you trust your guests....I have seen some weddings where the guests were invited to dress up to the theme. Can you imagine your reception hall filled up like "House Of Mouse"?? Smiley tongue

I'm attaching pics I thought could help, too Smiley smile

I am going to incorporate some disney in my wedding as well. i went on Ebay and found some awesome Mickey & Minney invitations that are so cute for a great price! Look there as well! I want to get a M & M cake topper as well, and my colors are going to be red and some black & champagne! I'm so glad i'm not the only that wants a disney theme! Smiley smile

    Welcome Bethany

You can even incorporate Minnie and Mickey and use black, red, white and polka dots

You can have your girls wear red with polka dot sashes and carry yellow flowers.

You could always do hidden mickey's too... and not be so literal.

You can have each table have a different picture of famous Disney couples.

    ~ congrats

@Future Mrs. Miz - I won't lie that I'm a tad jealous you're walking into 'Tale as Old as Time'! I may or may not still get a little teary-eyed when I watch that scene.... (Belle was always my favorite Disney princess)

@Ashely P. Wow! I love those bridesmaid ideas! Those are sooo cute! I'm so excited to be doing this. I think instead of having like meals..to save money..I would have a candy bar and cookies and like finger foods. It would save alot of money and I could do them to theme around the Disney characters. @ Nikki B. I am going to do those cookies Smiley smile

=) That sounds great! I think my favorite thing about those bridesmaid dresses is that they go with the theme without looking costume-y. It's easy to get carried away with a theme. That candy bar sounds adorable.

If you like Snow White you better have candied apples. =p
