Disney World Honeymoon Tips?

Kimberley, on March 2, 2022 at 1:07 AM Posted in Honeymoon 1 7

We're planning on going to Disney World at the end of August for our honeymoon! Any tips? I haven't been there before, but my fiance has when he was younger. We usually go to Disneyland every year for our anniversary, but we wanted to do something special for our honeymoon.

Most of the same tips and hacks you use at Disneyland you can also use at Disney World. If I were you I'd look up some tips on YouTube for food, rides and all that good stuff.

We Disneymooned! It was awesome Smiley smile (We've been several times since, but I'll try to keep things to our honeymoon lol)

I don't know if you already have your hotel, etc. but I'll give you a rundown of the things we did.

We were there 7 nights/8 days and stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter (it makes sense to our relationship as we started dating and got engaged in NOLA). If you haven't made hotel reservations, I recommend a moderate or deluxe level resort (though I don't find the Grand Floridian to be worth what it costs, the others are amazing).

We like park hopper, because we usually end days at EPCOT - and since you're going to be there during Food & Wine, you may want to do the same.

Get your celebration buttons! People will congratulate you (cast members as well as other guests) and sometimes you get "pixie dust" thrown your way. We also got the wedding ears - we only wore them one day, but it was so much fun Smiley smile

We ate at Le Cellier, Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table, San Angel Inn Restaurante, Yak & Yeti, Flying Fish, 50's Prime Time Cafe, and the Hollywood Brown Derby as far as table service (for our honeymoon). We also like Yachtsman Steakhouse, Space 220, Nomad Lounge, Satu'li Canteen, Chefs de France (among others). Right now, I don't recommend Be Our Guest - it's prix fixe for lunch and dinner and not worth the cost (unless you really want to eat in Beast's castle). I also don't necessarily recommend Yak & Yeti - it was good, but nothing special.

You can make reservations 60 days in advance right now - I don't recommend as many as we had - especially with it being F&W - GET UP EARLY TO MAKE THEM ON THE FIRST DAY! That's how I snag so many good ones.

It's going to be HOT in August. Bring cooling towels and filter water bottles (Florida water is yucky) and have a plan to find cool places during the day - an exhibit, a show, a restaurant - something. You don't want to be sick. Also, WDW is MUCH bigger than Disneyland - bring comfy shoes and more than one pair. Bring rain gear (ponchos/jackets preferably) it will likely rain every. single. afternoon.

So - the pixie dust - you may have seen this at Disneyland, but just in case. On our honeymoon, we got free dessert and champagne at Le Cellier, a free stuffed pretzel at the Lunching Pad, a free churro, the seats at Be Our Guest (we didn't make a reservation), audience participation in Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, free dessert and champagne at Flying Fish, and free champagne at Hollywood Brown Derby. (I got a free Mickey bar when we were there for my mom's birthday a couple years ago, and H got a free dessert at Yachtsman at the 50th for his birthday.)

I'm sure there's more, and I'm happy to answer any questions Smiley smile HAVE FUN PLANNING!

Everything Becky said. LOL Let me add in 2 links. If you have NOT booked your hotel yet, look in to renting a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) unit using 'points'. We do it all the time and it is awesome. These units have a small alcove that has a microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee pot and all the necessary utensils. This saves so much $$ - no buying breakfast every day, and we can bring (since we live in FL) our waters, sodas, etc. Here is the link David's Vacation Rentals

Any other questions you may have you can find EVERY ANSWER imaginable here AllEars Trust me, if they don't have the answer, no one does. You can find menus for every restaurant, park maps and general tips, plus frequently asked questions.

We will be doing a short honeymoon in WDW, too. Smiley love

My fiancé and I are doing a Disney honeymoon as well! We found The Vacationeers online and that’s been hugely helpful- they are free and whoever you work with will help you figure out what you want to do, they’ll book a lot of it for you (like on-site hotels and any dining when the time comes to book those reservations), and keep an eye out for discounts and things, plus they have a lot of inside info to help you make the most of your time. Chris and I have been working with a girl named Kelsey and she’s been really awesome!

Fastpass+ was discontinued with the beginning of the closures and never brought back. They would need to purchase Genie+ at $15 plus tax/per person/per day - completely doable - but no more Fastpass+
