Disney World Honeymoon!!!!!

Dj Tanner, on March 12, 2021 at 1:16 PM Posted in Honeymoon 3 36
So I think my fiancé and I have finally figured it out what we want to do for a honeymoon!!!!
We were going back-and-forth with different ideas because of the whole coronavirus thing throwing a knife and every plan…

We are 90% sure at this point that we are going to Disney World!! We think this will work out perfectly because we are going to drive down which takes 24 hours and rent a private villa and we get to bring our dog too!!
I was also very inspired by another bride that posted on here talking about wearing her wedding dress on her honeymoon and we figured depending on how hot it is of course, I could wear my wedding dress and a tiara at Disney World, And my fiancé is a pretty fun guy so my fiancé said he would dress up to either look like Gaston or alladin lol!
Have any of you taken your honeymoon or plan on taking your honeymoon in Disney World?!

That's so fun! FH and I have gone back and forth with so many different options, and DW is definitely on the list.

We're also considering Tanzania and New Zealand, because I want to go somewhere and do something once in a lifetime, but lol to the costs.

If we decide to stay stateside I'm 100% pushing for Disney World because last time we went we took my daughter with us and didn't do really any of the rides (or proper planning!).

YESSSS! I just posted this earlier this week because we officially booked!! We are doing Disney World and 2 days in Universal and I am SO excited!

We were the same, we had decided way back before covid we wanted to do an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. But then good ole covid came and we were not comfortable with cruising anywhere. So we thought it through and landed on Disney World as well! We are staying at Coronado Springs, but I really like that they have a contactless check-in system now and you can check in right through your phone. I've heard really good things about Disney throughout the pandemic too, and I've known a couple people who went. So yay for Disney!

I hear you! If there was no coronavirus, we would’ve definitely gone to somewhere like the Galapagos or Bora-Bora or Japan. We are also buying a house right after the wedding so as far as money goes it’s probably best that we’re staying in the country. The last thing I would ever want is to be in a different country and then if I somehow test positive to not be able to get back home! That is my biggest fear!

And I hear you on being able to go to Disney World and just enjoy the magic!

That’s awesome! Yes, we I really thought before coronavirus that we were going to go overseas. But my biggest fear is traveling overseas and then God for bid I get Covid, they won’t let me back on the plane and I will be stuck in a different country. Plus… How can you beat the magic of Disney World?! And I get to take my dog! As far as I see it it’s a win-win all the way around. His mother and grandparents and brother also live in Florida so that would be fun to visit them too!

I am so freaking excited! We haven’t booked a time yet because we are still debating but we were thinking about maybe September? Peoples kids will be back in school so hopefully we can try to avoid some of the long lines LOL

I know what you mean, I've heard too many of the horror stories about people getting stranded somewhere. Plus, Disney World has Epcot so technically you can visit other countries in a sense! At least that's how I'm reasoning it in my head...I really wanted to go to Finland and stay in one of those glass igloos to see the Northern Lights. That is NOT happening any time soon, so I'm like well, I'll just pretend Epcot is another country! You can't beat the magic of Disney! Especially with your dog there! We are opting to leave our baby at home, but she goes on vacation and has a blast when we are gone anyways so we know she'll be in good hands.

September would be a good time to go! Starts cooling down a little in September down there (I used to live in FL!), but still pretty warm. And yes, the kids are going back to school at that time! We are going right after our wedding, so we are going in November. I'm SO excited because Disney starts decorating for Christmas the first week of November, so we will get to see all of the Christmas decorations. I can't wait! So I'm excited for me and excited for you!

Omg!!!!! They decorate for Christmas!! UGG that is so tempting now as far as dates go! That sounds so magical! What’s crazy is that my fiancé and I both have a week off in November too... hmm, I don’t know… I might be pregnant at that point hopefully. So many pros and cons to both dates

Yesssss they have stuff they do year round! Like right now they're doing their Flower and Garden festival, around the time you are thinking of going they might have their Halloween decorations out. I don't honestly think you could pick a bad time to go no matter what so whenever you choose, you won't be wrong haha.

So jealous, this is my dream honeymoon. It's not my FH's cup of tea, so I'm going to take him at a later date.

We did a mini moon at Disney. It was great even though we didn’t visit the parks. I 100% recommend this.

Just a heads up, They do not allow wedding attire to be worn in the parks. If you show up to a park wearing your gown you will probably be turned away. Around the resorts to to dinner is fine. When we went they were allowing non Disney Fairytale wedding couple to do in park photo shoots before the park opened, but I think they changed it to just allowing couples who marry at Disney to do these. It was a great experience. It might be worth a call to see, Disney Fine and Photography would be who you call.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on that! … I do recall watching a YouTube video on some of the weird restrictions that Disney has, but I wasn’t aware of that one so thank you

In addition, they don't allow adult cosplayers. Kids can dress up as characters, but if you're an adult, they don't allow it (guests may get confused).

    HOWEVER.

Look up "Disney Bounding" - it's a different type of dress up, where you maybe wear the colors of the character - say you want to be Belle, well, you could wear a blue sundress and maybe a white shirt underneath, or a yellow skirt and blouse. People get super creative, particularly on Dapper Day! (I actually wore a yellow skirt to Epcot when we were there, and it only occurred to me halfway through the day that I was bounding a little!) For bridal cosplay, you could totally wear all white!

In terms of declaring that you are bride/groom, though, you can always get shirts made (ran into a couple at Epcot who had done just that), or get the Mickey hats with the top hat/veil. They are pricey, though, so head's up.

That said, if you go to Universal in full Harry Potter gear, you may or may not impress the workers because you will be wearing more HP gear than they are.

I'm just saying that nearly every single person who worked at HP world greeted me by my House. (To be fair, it was sneakers, socks, pins, blue skirt, white shirt, Ravenclaw cardigan, diadem comb, and maybe my jewelry just a little bit.)

OK yeah that actually makes a lot of sense. I certainly would not want to mistakenly go up to an Elsa who isn’t actually the real Elsa. Lol, i’m really glad I know this ahead of time instead of showing up at the gate like an idiot and I’m telling me I can’t go in because I’m dressed up like Jasmine Or in my wedding dress lol
    Thank you!

OMG my fiancé just brought up such a good point when I told him we cant dress up! Probably another reason is because if some freak tried to dress up as like Gaston or Hans and tried to take a child or something!! Omg okay this rule makes even more sense now that I think about it more

It's not even just the kidnapping thing. Imagine if someone walked up to a guest who was dressed as Belle and that woman was (to put it politely) a piece of work. Then, the guest who just had that interaction with "Belle" has a bad taste in their mouth about the cast members and character interactions. For a while last fall WDW *was* allowing adults to come in costume, but that was because they cancelled their Halloween festivities; however, they still talked to adults whose costumes were *too* on the money and told them they had to change. Besides, do you really want to walk 10+ MILES in your dress?

YES! Please do! So far we are renting a private villa, doing the 4day park pass n then universal n islands on adventure. We don’t do water parks...... we are going September so hopefully it will be Halloween time. Ive been about 7 times but they were all before the age of 12 so I barely remember everything.... Do they still have the Turkey Legs?! Lol

Are you renting an on-property villa?

Halloween starts at the end of August for WDW, so they should be decorated (and if they're doing Mickey's Not So Scary, that will be some nights). You'll have to decide if the extra money is worth it to park hop for a (relatively) short stay, or if you want to plan one park per day. If you want Rise of the Resistance boarding passes, you can *only* get them if HS is your first park of the day (as of right now - things are changing quickly). You'll ALSO be there during EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival - I *highly* recommend eating around the festival booths - they're always fun. We'll be there September/October this year for the 50th and are very much looking forward to F&W Festival.

For our Disneymoon we did the following:

We did 7 nights/8 days at Port Orleans French Quarter (which hasn't reopened yet). We picked there because we started dating and got engaged in NOLA, so it was very appropriate to our relationship. When you make reservations (especially when staying on property) make sure you mention you're honeymooning - cast members have "magic" they can do every day and sometimes a little falls on you! (I'll tell you about ours at the end.)

Get celebration pins! They're free and fun - people will tell you congratulations (cast members and other guests). It's fun Smiley smile

Also get wedding ears - we only wore ours one day, but it was so much fun!

For dining we went to: Le Cellier (EPCOT), Cinderella's Royal Table (MK), San Angel Inn Restaurante (EPCOT), Flying Fish (Boardwalk area); Yak & Yeti (AK); 50s Prime Time Diner (HS); and Hollywood Brown Derby (HS). We had two sit-downs in HS because we had been gifted the Fantasmic dinner package - which they're not doing now, since they're not doing Fantasmic. I recommend any of them except Yak & Yeti - it was just meh - even experientially.

When we went for my mom's 65th birthday we went to Chefs de France, which was also excellent.

Book everything as soon as you can - and when (if) you make dining reservations you'll have to call and add your honeymoon status separately - I don't know why.

Spend at least one evening in Disney Springs - we went to Jock Lindsay's Hanger Bar twice - such a good time (and good drinks).

As far as our sprinkling of magic. We got (free) a cheese-stuffed Mickey pretzel, a churro, half glasses of champagne at Le Cellier, a half size dessert (because we each ordered the cheese plate and the waiter said we needed to try the signature dessert) and champagne at Flying Fish, and champagne at Brown Derby. We also got a table at Be Our Guest even though we didn't have a reservation and they were telling people that they didn't have any availability until 3. We got crowd participation at Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor (which is currently closed as well).

Additionally, when we were there for my mom's birthday, I got a free Mickey Premium Ice Cream bar because I was celebrating.

The key is don't *expect* anything - if it happens it does, if not, you had a great time anyway.

There was a couple who came in while we were in Flying Fish, who were carrying wedding ears in their bag, and made a big deal out of setting them on the table. They pretty obviously hadn't been wearing them (they leave your hair in a terrible state, and if it's sunny . . . well . . . bring something to disguise the tan line lol) and they weren't wearing the buttons. It was fairly apparent, though, that they expected to get a freebie because they had wedding ears on the table. They got nothing.

Oh my God! Thank you so much for all of this!! Seriously, 1000 thank you’s. I’m so excited to see Epcot as well NOLA holds a special place in my heart forever. I went there to help rebuild after Katrina and its going to be really special for me to see it at Epcot and how they depict NOLA.♥️ as far as everything else, this all sounds amazing as well! I’m going to have to screenshot your post while we’re planning our honeymoon! LOL I just read all of this to my fiancé and he was like wow can we hire her to plan our stay LOL! I had no idea about the honeymoon thing with the buttons in the ears! That’s also super helpful to know! We would obviously never expect anything like you said, but that would be such a little extra perk!
