Disney World/harry Potter World Honeymoon?

Angela, on May 24, 2018 at 3:46 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 22
FH and I are looking at a honeymoon at Disney World in FL and taking some time to see Harry Potter World at Universal as well, after our wedding next June. Any tips/tricks/things we should be thinking of as we plan?
Thanks!

Hi Angela! Have you visited our Honeymoons section? I would start there! You can find more info in our Disneyworld Honeymoon section.

I think you should also check out the following WeddingWire article for more guidance:

I only have tips for Harry Potter World:

-As soon as Universal opens for HPW, run to the dueling dragons coaster. The line only gets longer as the day goes on.

-For the Hogwarts ride, there's a row of 4 seats. If you get motion sick, don't sit on the end.

-The slushee version of butterbeer is amazing.

Get a travel agent. They can get you deals on tickets, fun breakfasts, the best hotels for the best prices, etc. Disney/Universal is EXPENSIVE and ticket prices go up all of the time (they just went up again recently). Travel agents are free and can get you better deals than booking yourself, especially to a place like this.

    Fast passes save lives.

If it rains, wait it out, don't leave. People will leave and free up the lines when rides re-open.

Plan what you want to ride before you get there and either get in line for them or get fast passes for them first. Lines can be over an hour/2 hour wait.

Take advantage of Disney Springs/ City Walk. They're free and you can have a great day walking around the shops and restaurants if you want a day from the madness of the parks. They also have great night life.

If you are there for a long week, stay in a Disney or Universal resort. They all have shuttles to the parks which saves you time and hassle on driving to the parks daily. Shuttles are always running and are so convenient.

Plan, plan, plan but don't over plan. I see a lot of families over plan their trips trying to make every ride and every breakfast and every attraction. You just can't do it all unless you're there for weeks. Figure out whats most important to you but also take some time just to stroll the parks and enjoy. The parks are magical, even down to the architecture. Make sure to take in your surroundings instead of running through the parks to do the next thing.

Dueling Dragons is no longer a ride at Universal FL. I was there in March!

For Universal Orlando - go straight to Gringotts coaster within Diagon Alley as this is another ride that fills up quickly throughout the day. Another tip is to buy park-to-park tickets so that you can ride the Hogwarts Express going to/from Islands of Adventure and Universal Orlando.

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say that I'm jealous - I hope to get to Harry Potter world someday.

Disney is fun too - are you planning to go to all the parks or just the Magic Kingdom? There's so much to do!

That's so disappointing! Granted I went there in like 2011 when it was newly opened so I haven't experienced the new section (Diagon Alley?) yet.

If you don't get a travel agent use the My Disney Experience app. You can book your tickets, your plane tickets, your meal plan and your hotel. While also keeping track of your fastpasses and your dining reservations, its otherworldly. I believe you can even use it if you book through a travel agent and if so it's worth the download!!!
FH and I are also doing Disney World for our honeymoon we went three years ago as friends and it was just amazing I hope you enjoy it.

Oh how amazing! This is so helpful, thank you! We’ve both been to the parks separately when we were younger and are both excited to experience it all together as newly weds. 😊 Hope you all enjoy your honeymoon there as well!!

We’re so excited! Honestly, we were thinking of just spending a day or two at each park (so yes, probably just focusing on Magic Kingdom) and then spend another day or two lounging around a nice hotel that has pools/lazy rivers and just relax and enjoy being away from the crowds and lines a bit too. 😊

If you're into the alcohol scene there are a few blogs about drinking your way around Epcot. I highly recommend attempting the challenge.

You can also utilize single rider lines at Universal. Sometimes you will still be able to ride together even though you're in a single rider line. Way shorter wait times than the regular lines.

Following! FH and I are going in October to WDW for our honeymoon and I've always loved to know things that help me plan! 😊
I think I've put more work into planning our honeymoon than planning the wedding 😂

I’m so happy you will be going there!!! The idea of anyone enjoying all that is Harry Potter World makes me smile so big. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and my fiancé surprised me with tickets to Harry Potter World for my 30th birthday since we were going to Orlando anyway to visit his grandma. I jumped in his lap and sobbed with happiness.

When he proposed I didn’t shed a tear hahaha. Definitely go there first. Do the two park pass and ride the Hogwart’s Express over to Diagon Ally and get the slushy butter beer (FYI no alcohol in the butter beer but if you want other alcohol they sell lots of other beer).

Also, if you like oysters/seafood and divy local places you should go to Lee & Rick’s Oyster Bar one night. We’ve been twice now. Super divvy, good prices and sooooo delicious. I’m not even that big on seasfood normally.

When you go to Disney you should make sure to get one of the "just married" buttons. Or some saying like that. Apparently some employees will let you skip the line if they see it and also offer free ice cream or other small snacks when you're getting food Smiley smile
