Disneymoon!

Alyssa18o6, on January 25, 2015 at 1:08 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 27

Anyone else planning a Disneymoon? I'm so excited, might actually be a little more excited for this than the actual wedding. We will be here June 1st-8th and are staying at Port Orleans Riverside.

Awesome! We are considering it. FH is just worried I will run him ragged around the parks again, which is probably a fair concern. Part of me wants to go just so we can wear the bride and groom Mickey ears Smiley smile

We ate at Be Our Guest last time we went. The restaurant itself is amazing, but I wasn't overly impressed by the food (except the grey stuff - it was delicious!!!). FH loved it though! My favorite place I've ever eaten in Disney is The Wave in the Contemporary resort. The atmosphere isn't very theme-y, but the food is soooo good!! We also really liked Tokyo Dining at Epcot.

@bridetobe123 we made our reservations at the beginning of December! I know Be Our Guest, Le Cellier, one of the Star Wars character meals (for the fiancé!) and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head!

DH and I did a Disney honeymoon. Alyssia, did you book your dining reservations yet? Have you been to Disney World before? I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

Rosie, I used FastPass +, research and dining reservations to help manage some of the running around and stress so there wasn't any running ragged. Instead of bride ears I pre-ordered a Minnie Mouse bride headband. DH wore a groom baseball hat (we wore them on the flight down to Orlando (so many people congratulated us) and scored a bottle of sparkling wine from the airline.

Theresa, yes we did last month! I've been one time before, about 3 years ago. And my fiancé hasn't been since 2000. My MOH and her fiancé actually live in Florida and are coming to meet us one evening for dinner, they go all the time so I'm hoping they can help me. I did a TON of research before we booked in August. They have a bride headband?? I know I won't wear the hat/ears. The last time I went I bought 3 headbands haha so I was going to bring them along. But I need a bride one if they have one!

As soon as we are able to make our reservations I'm doing it right away lol. but i heard if you call for reservation and mention it will be for your honeymoon they are more likely to do something, like free dessert? but for the bride ears, i think we will probably just wear the buttons

I'm not going for my honeymoon but I am going in May and the be our guest restaurant is already fully booked for reservations (I don't want to go for lunch, only dinner when it's an actual sit down service) and I am so sad. Here's hoping someone cancels.

Hey heather! We didn't have reservations when we went because they were booked. we randomly just went up to the hostess stand around 11am that day and they had a spot at 4pm (sit down dinner). Always worth a shot to try when you get there!

Heather, check like every few days! I've heard a ton of people say they've gotten lucky. We got right in the day we were about to book. I was insanely nervous we wouldn't get in. We thought about going another night again and I couldn't find a single reservation. But we're considering trying lunch if we can!

That's good to know, everything I've heard makes it seem like lunch really isn't anything special like dinner is and if I'm paying like $40 a person, I want a good service. I'm hoping someone cancels in the next 4 months. The lady I talked to last night on the phone told me if I check in the middle of the night they dropped reservation from that day may pop up. Fingers crossed.

We're going April 12 and staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge! I booked restaurant reservations in November and there was only ONE night for Be Our Guest not booked for dinner, and we still couldn't get a spot until 8:30. I'm very excited though! Just as a tip for all you ladies, even if you book now and there isn't a special offer for cheaper rooms or free dining plan, you can call them when an offer comes online and they'll apply it! In less than 5 minutes, I got $1000 off my bill because a special offer for 35% of our room and one free ticket day came online!

I got the same discount! Ours was 25% since we are a moderate. I didn't calculate my savings so I have no idea how much it saved us.

We are kind of. We are staying off sight cause the military discount was awesome. My friend works at Disney World so she is arranging discount passes. We also plan on seeing blue man group and going to universal studios while there. It will be my first time going to a Disney park.

I am leaving on 1/31 to stay at the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for a family vacation. I would recommend to book food now. Did you buy the dinning package? We just got our magic bands in the mail!

I am a Vacation Club member of theirs! So I am for sure going to Disney for my honeymoon, me and the FH are big kids and it is just perfect for us haha. We have already started the planning process since they book so quickly. I am more into planning this then the wedding lol. We decided to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We are also doing the Disney dining plan for 7 days. My favorite restaurants in Epcot are Tutto Italia and Coral reef, I believe in Magic kingdom we are doing Cinderella's royal table and Be Our Guest. At Hollywood Studios we are eating at Sci-Fi- Dine- In Theatre. Beware though because some restaurants count as two dinner services instead of one. We decided to skip eating in animal kingdom as I don't like the food there, but we are eating at boma's which is in our hotel. We are also eating at Ohana's that is FH's favorite. A lot of what we like happens to be outside of the parks in the resorts. All of this covers a week of food out of the two weeks we will be there, it also has one counter service for lunch and one snack service. They have simpler plans if you are looking to save money though. Because we get the hotel for free we are spending around $2,500 total for the dining plan and the park tickets which we are going to 3 of the parks twice and doing both waterparks once but no park hoppers. The second week we will eat at downtown Disney, no dining plan. Sorry if you knew all this, just in case you were looking to save a bit I thought I would share Smiley smile

Alyssa, yes I ordered the headband through Amazon. I knew I didn't want to wear the hat. (I am posting a picture with me in the headband. I wore it every day). Don't forget to make your Fast Pass choices 60 days from your arrival day. Between it being a down time and using Fast Pass , the longest wait DH and I had was 20 minutes to pay for lunch at Be Our Guest (I couldn't get dinner reservations so I got lunch fast passes for lunch). Aside from that, it was between 10 and 15 minutes tops for every ride or show we wanted to see.

Edit to add. Wear your celebration pin (ours said celebrating happily ever after). Also, you can decorate your Magic Bands once you get them in the mail. I used a Sharpie and wrote "Mrs. Beale" and "Honeymoon Trip" on my band and then covered it with a few coats of clear/sparkly nail polish. The bands are great as they are water proof and basically hold everything you need on your trip (your dining plan credits, your room keys, your Fast Pass +, room charging privileges and pictures taken by Disney photographers - even if you don't/didn't purchase Memory Maker, they will take your picture and then scan your band. They will even take pictures with your camera. If they are using the Disney camera in the theme parks during the day, ask about "special" pictures. There were shots of us holding Tinkerbell as well as one with Olaf added in)
