Disposable cameras for guests--anyone done this?

I was thinking of giving everyone a disposable camera for the wedding and reception so we have some pictures for weddingturtle.com right away. They look to be about $3 a piece for the basic ones and we probably will need only about 50. Has anyone done this? I thought a cute poem to go with it asking...

Has anyone done this? I thought a cute poem to go with it asking them to snap shots at the wedding and luncheon might be nice. We are having everyone pick up a bottle of water and (optionally) drop their shoes in a basket before the wedding so I would have these there as well.

Or....with the programs on each seat.

Really, Glenn S.? Because I actually CHANGED MY MIND after reading everyone's posts. Perhaps if you DO come here maybe you should take the time to READ the posts.

The reason why *I* don't come here a lot on some days is because people like you with your comments drive me away. I don't need to "defend" CLARIFYING MY EVENT to make sure people have the whole story before giving their opinions.

And, as before with other posts I've made and people like you make rude comments, I won't be coming back to THIS thread, either.

My grandma was *SO* excited about buying disposable cameras for my reception because a friend of their's daughter did it and had pretty good results. I didn't have the heart to tell her no. But, I love looking at prints from film based cameras - because you never know what you get Smiley smile - but I take all the important shots with my digital camera, so I'm not worried about it.

You dont need 50 unless theres ALOT of ppl coming. Id say 1 per every 5 ppl or so. If a lot of them are old.... Do theey know how to take good pictures? Also check the quality of those cameras and be aware they may be too low for even an 8 by 10 print.

Bottom line? If you decide to buy them, and the cost isn't an issue, and you get five good photos, it's worth it.

I've done this at my wedding last year.

if you are going to do this...

DONT give the camera to young kids.

I let my 12 year old cousin take pics and it was a mess, a waste of money..

good thing i had more than 1 camera (i think i had 6)...

Alcohol/photography doesn't mix. I remember people at weddings taking those disposable cameras into the bathroom. I wonder why they were doing that.

Labake....LMAO....I wish I could tell you my "mature" guests wouldn't come up with some unsuitable pictures. However, everyone, including myself, has a very odd sense of humor. But, I think even my crazy "mature" crowd would draw the line at grandma on the potty. Although, there were some pics of me in my pantyhose and corset sporting serious butt crack floating around between my lady friends. Who knew Legg Pantyhose didn't cover the bum?

    Omg. That's really funny.

I wish I could ban all photos taken between 1996 and 1999. College was not kind to me. lol.

I was also debating the scavenger hunt idea for pictures. If you include something like that to encourage guests to take (good) shots? You could also make sure it is in both languages for your guests.

Here are a few off pinterest:

I was considering doing this too, then i changed my mind cause you get so many unwanted shots and have to pay for them all to be developed plus the cost of the cameras..instead i am gonna ask my guests to bring their own cameras..probably gonna send a group message on facebook to all the peeps that are on there that are coming and ask if they will bring a camera and take pics and send them a link to post the pics after the wedding..then include a public link in the message for them to upload like photobucket or walgreens.com..and for the guests that are not on facebook ill just call them or have family spread the word..this way i can see all the pics and decide what i want to print or save from the sight.ill try and word it tastefully not demanding..

    Hi All

I found this new service called guestwall where guests have a mobile app (android and iPhone) and can take pictures and post messages on your wedding day and all information is in one location and available anytime. Have a look here! www.guestwall.com

Apparently they are launching in May, but we can subscribe to receive an email when they launch.

I would consider using something else, I have heard a lot of disappointing feedback from disposable cameras. My cousin was considering it but talked her out of itSmiley smile

She ended up finding a better alternative to disposable cameras called Social Wedding Wall, basically guest can post pixs and msgs on the big screen during the wedding. Have access to all the info so you can choose what you want printed. Hope this helps...
