Disposable Cameras?

Stephany, on July 11, 2009 at 12:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Anyone know where I can get disposable cameras for less than $2.29 each? I need like 80 cameras was wondering if any of you found them cheaper than $2.29? Thanks for the help ladies!

My best suggestion would be to google disposable cameras wholesale and see if that works. You might be able to find them cheaper if you by them bulk. Good luck

I would not suggest doing the disposable cameras. I spoke to some one in the film department at Sam's Club and they informed me that out of 24 exposures most of the time only about 2 come out and they are the biggest waste of money. Plus everyone will have digital cameras of their own. Put the money towards something else, create an email address and request all of your guests to send their pictures to the wedding email address.

If you do go with disposable cameras, make sure that they have a flash. The biggest mistake people make is getting the cheaper ones without the flash to save money. If your event is indoors or at night none of the images will come out without a flash.

I would have to agree with VegasBride, you have to pay for cameras , then pay to get them developed! And not very many would turn out, and heaven only knows what will be on them!! I read an article in a Bridal magazine about having disposables, and one bride said the only pictures that turned were R/XXX rated!! SCARY!! But, If you think your guests will be mature about the cameras, Good! Try here:

I too caution against disposible cameras. I have a friend who did that at her wedding and ended up with peoples legs, arms, and 'other' areas......

OK lol you guys convinced me I wont be doing the cameras LOL Plus I was on the fence about them anyway wasn't sure when I would even have time to get them developed and then was unsure how much it would cost to develop them in the first place! Thanks for the advice! Yay! more $ for the honeymoon! Woot! Thanks again!

Anytime Stephany. That is what we are here for. We were going to do them as well but after we heard from the film developer we decided to put the money towards the welcome bags. Which I am soooo thrilled I did because the bags look GREAT!! However I did decide to buy some small frames for the table that will ask our guests to send us their photos. Also when we send out our thank you cards their will be a reminder for them to send their photos.

Investing in film. Gotta love that. Plenty of online disposable cameras on the cheap.

However, be careful not to develop them ALL at once. Make sure to find a place you like first when developing, as today's digital age doesn't accommodate film processing like before. They say they use chemicals and such, but is often a cheap scan of the negative and the pics come out horrible. A good lab will have no problem making sure you get a good scan, even though they will print from a digital file.

There are 2 alternatives to dispsables if you would still like candid photos from the reception. The 1st one would be a simple photobooth/studio at your wedding to capture your guests candid shots and put them into a scrapbook. The 2nd option would be renting a self-service on-site printing station where guests can print thier own photos and also add one to the scrapbook for your candids. Marc is correct about labs as they do not do a very good job on your prints and do not offer refunds on bad shots.

I also would not suggest disposable camera, even though I do sell them on my site. Your money would be better spent elsewhere. Almost everyone has a digital camera and/or phone that takes pictures these days, so there will be plenty of those type of pictures going around; however, if you still want to get the disposable camera, make sure you get the ones with a flash and if they are on sale, make sure you ask if they are cameras that are being discontinued and/or cleared out of stock. You might find that the expiration date is either past or getting close to being past the expiration date. You will also want to keep the cameras in a cool dry place prior to them being used, so the film doesn't get ruined. If you want candid photos to display at your wedding, see if someone has a photo printer and get some photo paper. You can set that up and people can make and take the pictures that they really want.

I would highly recommend NOT getting them. Most of the time they end up being entertainment for the children and a majority of your pictures will be someone's chin, an elbow, a shoe, and so on. I got some when I got married and spent a small fortune on the cameras and developing, then had about 5-10 usable pictures out of them all.
