Anyone build their own ceremony arch? Or buy one instead of renting one? Cant seem to find one for rent in my area that isnt an arm and a leg. We are open to any type.

I am going with a large cross... very easy to make & incrediblly elegant looking. I didn't want to pay several hundred dollars for an arch to stand in front of it for less than an hour OR have someone spend a ton of time making it, for the same reason. Literally the cross will take 3 2x4s, some stain, and some cloth.

My dad is making one for me! He works seasonally so he's got a lot of downtime right now

@becky exactly! A rental for an arch is around 250-300 in my area. Its nuts.

@becky, he used all 2x4s, stained thrm and then rubbed them eith some sort of oil (I forget). The material was the expensuve part because none of us can sew so we paid for a pocket to be sewn so that it slides on a hidden rod.

I chose for him to build a larger one because it's going behind the sweetheart table after the ceremony, but if you built it down to a smaller size, it would dramatically drop the price. Then we just bought hanging lights off of amazon to put behind the fabric. Alternatively you could save a bunch of money and just drape some fabric across the top.

I'm looking into exploring building an arch too possibly. I need to decide what I want as far as ceremony backdrop in general if we decide on an arch there is a fair chance we will build it ourself.
