diy Arched Wedding Signage

Laura, on October 26, 2021 at 4:03 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8

Hey guys! Has anyone had experience DIYing their own welcome signs?

I'm a graphic designer so I've been saving money designing our invitations and signage. I can't figure out the best way to DIY our larger signage. I'm loving the look of the arched-shaped signs but am unsure how to get them to curve at the top on my own. I planned on printing the 24x36 posters at Staples or Vistaprint and then spray adhesive mounting them to foam core. How do I cut the curve at the top? With an exact knife? Will that look really bad? Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

Hi Laura! Is this the style you're looking to create?

I'd try tracing the curve first onto the foam core and use a super sharp blade (like an Xacto knife or box cutter). It might also be worth practicing first on some extra foam core!

You could also create the illusion of an arch like this wedding sign:

I made one of these for my friend. Just created the file and then sent to FedEx and they printed and cut. Turned out perfect, but probably a bit more than if you printed/cut yourself.

That's awesome, so they cut it rounded out at the top too? I would much rather have them do it so it turns out better.

I sent them a PDF file, and they printed it on foamboard.
