DIY arrangements with baby's breath

KABurg, on March 19, 2016 at 10:14 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Hi ladies, looking for some advice...

My floral estimate from the shoppe was outrageous so I am thinking of DIY for the aisle runner. I am doing galvanized buckets with baby's breath. From the little reading I had found, it wouldn't require purchasing much baby's breath, but my florist disagreed and wants to order way more than I believe would be necessary. I am wondering has anyone utilized baby's breath and knows how far the stems could go and which is better (there seems to be two different types).

I'm not using Baby's breath but I think the best thing you could do is do one mock up to see how much you will need.

We are doing baby's breath for the ceremony on our own and we will prolly buy more than we need just in case. The florist is doing everything else for reception that needs baby's breath

Someone posted a picture on here a while back of baby's breather she bought. If I remember correctly it was 200 stems and it filled 4-5 gal buckets. I'm on mobile but if you are on desktop use the search feature you may be able to find it

I bought 100 stems of babies breath from Costco, and it was the 'million star' kind. I made 4 bridesmaids bouquets, used it as filler for 11 dinner table centerpieces, scattered some on the other tables (dessert, guestbook, etc, used it in my bouquet, made 9 boutonnieres and still had a ton left over. It filled up two 5-gal buckets. Oh and it was only 90 bucks for those. Edit: clarity

The buckets are 8" round by 7" tall. I wanted to try one in advance, but most places seem to only sell in bulk and I'm not ready to make that purchase multiple times! We only need to fill 8 buckets.

I'm having the same thing at my wedding. I got 6" buckets from Amazon and giving them to my florist to fill. They are using a combination of Million Dollar and Overtime baby's breath, overtime being much bigger clusters to help fill up the bucket. Each bucket is costing me $11 or $88 total for the ceremony. Unfortunately I don't know how many stems are in each bucket but using the a combo helped decrease the cost.
