DIY bathroom baskets, so darn pricey!!!

Marzena, on June 27, 2012 at 11:47 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 27

SO! Smiley winking I went to Target yesterday and decided to buy things for my bathroom baskets. Now I'm debating on returning everything before I buy things to finish it off. I spent about $20 on small dollar items (hairspray, tums, Advil, hand sanitizer, lint roller) I know I have things t home to put in them but idk.

Who's making or made bathroom baskets? Is / was it worth it??

We spent well over $100 on our baskets...our venue has two sets of bathrooms, one by the entrance and one set by the bar. So we bought enough for 4. I'm hoping I get at least a couple comments about them to help make up for the time and money spent on them lol.

I have decided not to take on the bathroom baskets...I have so much on the DIY list already I can't take on anything else! It's a nice gesture but just don't have the time or money if I did I would def give it a try though.

I did bathroom baskets, I thought it would be a nice personal touch. I found alot of my stuff at the dollar store. I got the baskets at Michaels using 50% off coupons. I think I spent $40.

We aren't doing it for that reason. Our budget is blown by this point and we are tight on money. I do think it's a nice gesture. I am sure some of your guests will appreciate it.

I'm doing the opposite of Cyndi, one basket for the four bathrooms, with ladies personal items in the actual bathrooms, by the sink. I don't want to buy 4 of everything when if it's unlikely to be used. Also planning to get items from the Dollar Store to keep costs down.

I'm hoping my FH will give me some insight. Maybe I'll go through my moms house for some goodies! Smiley winking I'm thinking about going to my local dollar store for a few things and if I find a basket that would be great bc I don't want to spend $10+ for a basket either.

I thought things would be cheaper at the dollar store but when I went to Target I found things for $.20 cheaper. And it adds up! So my little advice about dollar stores look at the local stores first then go to the dollar store bc it adds up.

Yeah the dollar tree isn't always cheaper. Check out Big lots if you have one near you. I know I can get rubbing alcohol and peroxide for $0.88 there compare to a dollar at dollar tree.

I have seen people put alot of things that dont get used in their baskets... and wasted money..

I would not put things that would not get used in the basket.. Like Perfume (not everyone uses or likes the same scent. I would not even use Mouth wash myself... I mean I dont think people will use deoderant that someone else has used.

I am putting Pump hand soap, regular lotion, air freshener, advil and Mints in there that should be good enough.

I agree some things I'm not putting in are mouth wash, perfume, deodorant (I would hope they used some prior! Haha)

I was planning on putting body spray in mine -- maybe I'll nix that idea. What about a travel sewing kit or lint roller? Think those are really necessary?

I don't think we're going to do one...our reception is at a golf course and the bathroom is also the bathroom used by people in the bar..I know there probably won't be that many other people, but still I don't want to spend the money for other non-wedding people to use it haha

Rachel - i'm thinking the same thing. My venue has 2 big rooms in our building where our reception is at, and I know there is another wedding reception going on the same evening. And there is only 1 rest room in the main hall for all guests. So i don't want to spend $ that the other wedding party guests would be using. I will probably put a basket together for the Bridal Suite that all my girls can use.

Elizabeth that's a good idea as well! I'm giving my BM an emergency kit in their gifts, but for brides that in the same boat as you and Rachel that's a good idea!

Rachel H. For something's I agree dollar store is the way! But sometimes sales are better at target and what not.

Christina W. no they're not they're just a little added "bonus" for the guests just invade they need something or forgot at home.
