DIY Boudoir Photos... Anyone tried this or have Thoughts/Ieas?

JacobBride2B, on May 24, 2011 at 8:20 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

OK.. My budget for my wedding is small enough without trying to pay hundreds of dollars for photos.. But for some reason my FH LOVES my post baby body and I really wanna give some sexy pre wed photos a try. I saw this thingy about doing them yourself and I have a great friend whos seen me pass three people through my body and would def take the pics.. But I have no clue whatto do NOT to make them look stupid and cheap... Any ideas or comments? Any one done this? I'm thinking I should also find someone who know how to work photoshop too..

Search for boudoir photos in the WW search engine. There are several ladies who have posted some beautiful, classy photos. They don't look too difficult to stage, but lighting and angles seem to make or break the looks. Have your friend take tons of each look, so you can weed through to find THE one to make your guy's heart flutter!

I don't know what style you are going for but I want to do a more vintage/pinup type of shoot. With the help of one of the fabulous ladies on here (and in the same town as me), I found a great B&B that has the PERFECT room for this (which during the slow season we can get for only 1 night)! Big bay window, vanity, vintage bed, etc. I am having them done professionally but I think you can DIY....especially if you have a friend that you feel comfortable enough with to take the pictures. I agree with Karen to have her take tons of shots though......with different lighting, etc. just to make sure you have lots to choose from. Granted, they aren't going to be like what you'd get from a pro.....but I think they would still turn out great!

I am having a good friend take mine. FH would not be very understanding at all if a perfect stranger took half naked pics of me. I am going to give him the camera after the wedding and let him finish off the boudier photos for himself. Smiley winking I understand what Brian is saying but there are some of us that are on such a tight budget that professional photos are out of the question. I've been studying poses and with trial and error and tons of pictures, I think we'll be able to get something that we like. They don't have to be perfect. Smiley smile

I tried to DIY my own bouds.... NOT EASY!

I also tried to do it without a tripod, so I had to try to either hold the camera, or try to prop it up on something.. and Good lighting is a necessity! My room has crummy lighting, luckily I was able to tweak the lighting in the photo program I have...

I would recommend having someone you are comfortable with help you take some photos so you're not trying to set the timer and then quickly get in front of the camera and try to pose before it goes off... I had numerous fails with that.. I only had 1 pic turn out where I Was using the timer. All of the other ones I'm holding the cam, so my arm looks like it got cut off Smiley tongue...

Also, check in to groupon! They have photo deals on there periodically... I bought a 2 hr shoot for engagement/family pics for $65 which includes a $40 print credit. A week later they had a boudoir session for about $70.. I was so bummed I couldn't buy it!!!
