Hi all,

So I'm thinking of DIYing my bouquets and bridesmaid's bouquets. Flowers are not a priority to me so it's doesn't need to perfect per se but just nice. When I look at bouquets I just see a bunch of flowers arranged together and tied with a pretty ribbon- I think I can do this, but am I missing some details? Will Costco flowers cut it or no? Who has done this? How far in advance did you make your bouquets and how do you store them? Anyone try boutonnières too? Gimme all the pics too, thanks!

I did mine. I would never do it again.

It took four times as long as I thought, they need to be conditioned, and they need storage. They need to be assembled at the point of time when you are the most crazy and stressed out.

If it's not a priority, you might go this road. If they are a priority, don't even consider it.

My best friend bought her wedding flowers online too. It was a small wedding. Her family love to DIY. Everything went perfect and on time.

Make sure you order 'bulk' flowers ahead of time. They Might not have what you want if you just walk in the shop the week of. Also go to the florist and ask what will be in season during your wedding. Take a good look at all of your choices and think about your budget / how much time you want to put into making the bouquets.

We're doing hydrangeas (like the user who posted the pics) and they come in bunches. That's really nice because we only have to buy 2-3 stems per bouquet. As opposed to roses where you would need like 8+.

It sounds like you're talking about live flowers... I've done live flowers for a wedding before (was not in the WP of course). I'm a DIY person and I have done all the silk flowers for my wedding. I would definitely not recommend doing live flowers yourself. To much last minute stress and to much could go wrong.

I think bouquets are easy to put together. Buy some grocery store flowers and give it a try. It does take some time to prep, but I think it looks way better than fake flowers, and bouquets take much less effort than center pieces. Search the forum-- someone recently did a post of her experience with Sam's club and it looked like the bouquets came pre arranged. Bloominous might also be a good option. Good luck!

It seems pretty stressful to arrange your bouquet and your bridal party flowers and centerpieces the day before your wedding. There is a lot more to this than it seems. But, if you do your research it can be done.
