DIY Brides: how much did you end up spending on decor?

SphynxLover, on March 27, 2014 at 7:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I am a DIY bride on a budget. How much on average did you spend on decorations? I find my total is over what I was planning. Sometimes I wonder if DIYing it is really worth it...

I didn't DIY much (only place settings) and everything was about $1200 to "build up" my reception on the blank canvas

I've budgeted for 700 and spent 415 so far. This includes ceremony decor, backdrop, centrepieces, cake topper, card holder, favours, centrepieces, bouquets, bouts, corsages, cootie catchers, guestbook wishing tree, signage with a guest list of 130.

Gosh it's been a year, but not including table cloths and chair covers, we spent about $100 on centerpieces (mainly for the paint and tinsels for the bottles) and yarn balls (for yarn, glue and cornstarch) and another couple of hundred that my cousin gave use for decorations went towards up-lighting.

Ooh forgot about the church. I spent about $30 for the petal aisle runner and tissue poms. I also bartered for some decoration in exchange for some of my DIYs.

I think mine will be about $12 per table and I'll have 8 tables.

From my invitations to my veil and everything in between was DIY. I would say about 500 bucks. But seriously, EVERYTHING about my wedding is DIY.

I am DIYing for my reception and ceremony, and I am making A LOT. I will probably spend $800 by the end of everything. But I could have gone a lot simpler for $500. This price is including all my florals as well.

$200 for all the table centerpieces, $45 for guestbook from shutterfly (custom), $50 for misc table stuff, I got all my DIY cork project stuff for free practically. I went to Napa and requested corks from the winerys. Smiley smile

The only that I didn't do myself was centerpieces. But that was actually cheaper to rent from my florist than buy a bunch of lanterns, candles and flowers. You really just got to feel out. Price things out before you make your decision. Some things will be cheaper to DIY and vice versa..

Well our venue included everything but the center pieces. We used live pumpkins with pillar candles and some twig/leaf garland. Total? Maybe $100 for 14 center pieces.

Yea... I was hoping to spend around $500-$600 but now it's looking more like $1000.

That includes pretty much everything though. I am going to have to cut some things out.

I didn't DIY - just a card box and ring box. I don't have the patience. I bought everything from craft stores and Etsy. Spent between $250-$400 on decor, I don't have the heart to add it all up ...
