Happy Wednesday All! I am debating if I should just buy a card birdcage off of Etsy or DIY one? If so, does anyone know where I can find one at a decent price? The cheapest I found was $20, but shipping was like $15! If I were to purchase the one I want off of Etsy it will be about $80 with...

Happy Wednesday All!

I am debating if I should just buy a card birdcage off of Etsy or DIY one? If so, does anyone know where I can find one at a decent price? The cheapest I found was $20, but shipping was like $15!

If I were to purchase the one I want off of Etsy it will be about $80 with shipping.

It seems like at this point it may be easier to drop the $80 because just getting one to DIY is already $45 and that's not including DIY materials...

Any suggestions? Smiley smile TIA!

@junebride no need. Just because someone wants to DIY to save and make things their own doesn't mean you have to put them down. I have plenty of money to pay for stuff but I like DIY to personalize it to my wedding and no one else has something like it. You aren't going to get very far here if you just tell people DIY is for people who shouldn't have weddings!

@JuneBrideBrianna are you serious? There are a lot of people on here who DIY, so I suggest you change your attitude.

Yeah, June. That was a bit much. And when I say bit, I mean it was way out of line.

@junebride, some people just enjoy making things themselves because it's more unique and personal, they're good at it, and it's fun--and yes, it can be a way to stretch a wedding budget further. For example, could I afford to buy jewelry to go with my wedding dress? Yes, but I also really enjoy making jewelry, so that's what I'm doing.

Some people just are crafty. I DIYed the entire engagement party with my FMIL (Who threw the party, we just helped decorate) and it actually would have been cheaper to buy everything pre made. But FH and I enjoy being crafty so we made all of the centerpieces. I'll probably also make my card box as well for the wedding!

@JuneBride...if you don't like it, don't do it. Don't criticise, as you see, it's not taken kindly here.

I love these ideas, they are beautiful. You ladies are talented.

OP I love the one you found on etsy and I have seen birdcages in so many stores for pretty cheap. You could do it for way less than the $80. I wanted to do one but our venue told us people steal from them all the time which is why we are doing a DIY card box instead. I trust everyone at my wedding but I am too paranoid to risk it. But I love the birdcage ones!

@JuneBrideBrianna who the hell do you think you are? DIY weddings are great and they save money. Why pay someone to do something you can do yourself? Is Daddy paying for your wedding?

@FutureMissChang I think you should go with DIY if you want to save money. I am buying a bigger lantern than what my centerpieces are going to be and having FH make a cut out so we can put cards in it. So much cheaper that way. I say do what you think is best.

I'm not very crafty, so I'm not sure about how you'd do that, but I'd love to see it when you get it done! =)

I found a box in my colors at Christmas Tree Shop for $10, it says salt on the top, so FH is just going to cut that out to make it the opening for the cards.
