diy Centerpiece Layout Ideas?

diy Centerpiece Layout Ideas? 1
Hi everybody! Alright.. we are getting married at a little cottage at a winery in October '22. Trying to do little cozy centerpieces for the 5 round dining tables. I love these little lanterns, and think they'll give the tables a nice little glow! I'll be putting some rose gold colored glass stones/gems in the bottom to cover the base of the bulb. What could I put on the table with it? We're trying to keep the cost down a little and are trying to avoid lots of flowers, so I'm open to some different decoration ideas 😊

Oooh I really like those lanterns!! Smiley love

I'd maybe just add a few scattered votives and your table numbers!

The lanterns are nice! With your winery location, I'm envisioning a warm, moody glow like the movie Casablanca. I'd add a bottle of wine from the winery, a love letter from your favorite book or poem (printed in a handwritten font on antique-style paper) and a sepia-toned photo of you and your FS (no frame. just lay it flat). For five tables, one bouquet of roses would provide enough petals to sprinkle across each love letter and photo, but you could skip the roses altogether. I would focus more on the lighting at the venue. If they can dim the lights like a cabaret, it would be a whole vibe.

Oooo I love this! the tables will be on a wrap around porch with Edison bulb style string lights the only light which was why I wanted the lanterns at the tables, so that works as is.. I think I'd break up the rose petals with maybe some deep green greenery sprigs. All the full bottles have to be at the bar, but the white wine comes in a deep blue bottle and the red in a dark red bottle, do you think a small wire of fairy lights inside the bottle would look ok with the glow from the lantern? I love the picture and poem too ❤️

Burgundy is what came to mind when I read your original post, so I'd vote for putting the fairy lights in the dark red bottles! Plus the bottles will give you varying height in your centerpiece. The greenery sprigs sound great (I'm a fan of having subtle differences in the centerpieces - that they don't have to be an exact match). Another idea is to ask the winery for some old corks and place a couple of those instead of petals or greenery. What about getting extra rose colored gems and scattering those? Those could also prevent the photos & letters from blowing away.
With the Edison bulbs, it'll all come together really nicely. Share pics once you decide!

That's an awesome idea. I was playing with what colors to do for table cloths, so that's now the next question. Burgundy or blush? I think navy would be too dark and the greenery would disappear.

What time are your ceremony and reception? Maybe that could help you decide between a lighter or darker color tablecloth?

Ceremony will be at 5 to 5:20, drinks and charcuterie will be available while chairs are being moved to the tables. Timeline though, reception will begin about 45 minutes after the end of the ceremony. So dinner a little after 6? It's not super formal or super late, maybe a couple burgundy and a couple blush to break up the dark color? I've never planned something more elegant like this and just want it to look good for pictures lol. This is where the tables will be. It looks small but it comfortably fits up to 7 tables with 8 people at each.diy Centerpiece Layout Ideas? 2

What a beautiful, natural space! Based on the timeframe, I suggest choosing either burgundy or blush tablecloths. While you say it's not a super formal event, you also said you've not planned anything "this elegant," so I believe you'll be less likely to have regret if you have one consistent color for the tablecloths.

Depending on the shade of burgundy, darker tablecloths could bring the dark red (empty) wine bottles, the rose gold gems and your lanterns together cohesively as a nearly monochromatic look.

Blush tablecloths could work too, though depending on the shade, blush tablecloths could provide more of a Valentine's Day feel, if that's a vision or palette you're open to.

What about burgundy tablecloths and blush napkins? With this combination, the blush napkins would tie nicely into the rose gold gems you've got planned.

Ah, I see what you mean about mixed colored tablecloths. Since it'll be October/fall time I don't think I want the Valentine's vibe. Because the wood of the porch is natural and kind of light, looking at it more, burgundy would probably make the space feel warmer, pulling the redder tones from the surrounding wood. My fiance found some wood slices on Amazon that may be kind of neat to put everything on, also helping to break up some of the color monotony, so I think I'm going to order some samples of things and play with some layouts on my dining room table and see what comes together Lol. Thank you for your ideas, they're super helpful! ☺️
