DIY CHAIR SASHES....HELP PLEASE

keriberri, on November 1, 2013 at 8:57 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

OK LADIES. I NEED TO KNOW HOW I CAN MAKE CHAIR SASHES. IS IT REALLY AS SIMPLE AS I THINK IT IS? CAN I ACTUALLY BUY FABRIC THAT IS PRE CUT AND JUST MAKE A BOW? MY VENUE RENTS THEM BUT FOR &# A CHAIR. TRYING TO SAVE SOME MONEY ON THIS.

STOP TYPING IN ALL CAPS...it makes it appear as though you're yelling LoL Smiley winking

Essentially, yes, you can make your own sashes; you just need to determine the lengths of fabric and dimensions needed for each sash to fit the chairs. Then you would need to cut them and possibly hem the edges to prevent fraying, depending on the fabric you use. Also, make sure you test the type of bow you want to insure that the amount of fabric you get is long enough to create the desired effect. I would get a few lengths of different types of fabric to test what you're trying to create before committing to doing that though. And, make sure the hotel will tie them onto each chair before the event if you do provide them, because some venues will not set things up that were not provided by them, so you may have to have someone tie all of the bows prior to the event.

Also, consider this, will it save enough money to justify having x-number of chair sashes leftover after the wedding??

    Have fun!! Smiley laugh

Check out bulk wholesale dealers online. You can get them fairly cheap (or atleast equivalent to renting) and then try to resell them. I was considering that option at one point.

Tulle would be the simplest DIY fabric because hemming isnt necessary, but youd have to be into the meshy texture

Try spandex chair sashes, and clip a broach on them. Easy and pretty cheap too.

    Hey Keri,

Had i been n your place I'd first compare the amount the was to be spent in making the sashes and buying them. Besides the hand made ones might not give the professional look that the ready made one's do. Did you checked Sculptware's Chair cover & Accent band combination? I had been an event recently that had used these products and it was wonderful. I'd recommend you to have a look before you decided.
