Getting married May 2025 and want to have really good food. Myself & my family love to cook, and always receive the highest remarks from others. The wedding is only 50-75 people and I was thinking about DIY catering the cocktail hour. We should have no problem with the prep and set up of the food for cocktail hour with the help of hiring a server or two to set up. But I’m also DIY-ing my signs, flowers & decorations…
We wanted to spend more on good quality things that we weren’t capable of physically doing, pictures, dj, main catering, hair & makeup for 10 people…
I put together an easy to make list of options… - antipasto cup - charcuterie cup-crostini bar -- bruschetta— tapenade -- whipped ricotta —smash avocado-“Her favorite” - my dads gumbo-“His favorite” shrimp cocktail
Myself and my family could probably easily whip all this up the day before and it’ll still be good to go the day of the wedding.
But is it smart to stress myself out? Would I stress more if I went with cheap options that were not up to par? Or is creating 1000 appetizers a day before your wedding TOO MUCH? *creating those apps with the help of at least a dozen people…
