Hey everyone~

I just finished my crystal fountain cake stand. It is a 7-tier acrylic cake stand with real hanging crystals. There are 2 porcelain figurines~the one on the top is actually the cake topper so it will sit on top of the cake, and the one at the bottom is a working fountain, which will be on at the wedding.

I bought an 8-tier acrylic cake stand off ebay, and I drilled holes along the edges to add the crystal garlands. I used one of the crystals to gage the distance between each hole, which I marked before I started drilling to make sure they were evenly spaced. I then used 6-10mm jump rings to add the crystals along the edges. I also got the porcelain figurines on ebay, and the mirror platform under the fountain is actually an upside-down vase I found at the LA Flower Market.

The main center stand will hold a 6, 10, and 14 inch cake, and the four sides are going to hold two 8-inch cakes (back) and two 10-inch cakes (front).

Now all I need is a baker for the cakes!

Smiley smile

She charges 6 dollars a slice so with a cake of the quality that that cake stand will need she would be the one to go with but it will cost some coin but would be worth it

Haha~I've seen a lot of the other DIY projects on here and I KNOW a lot of you ladies can empathize with how good it feels to see someone appreciating all of the blood, sweat, and tears you've put into something as simple as a cake stand Smiley tongue

My friends and I actually purchased our wedding cake stands from a woman who makes beautiful cake stands with removable cake skirts. Seems that most bakers only provide those boring looking plain cake rounds to display your cake...why spend so much money on a gorgeous cake to just put it on a dull piece of cardboard? You can buy the stand kit I think it's called and it comes with a stand, a cake skirt and matching flower and ribbon for only $65!!! She has a good selection of fabric skirts and crystal ones too. The best thing about this cake stand is you can change the skirt over and over to match every event! This is the stand I purchased. Check her out on cakedress.com!
