diy Decorating

Frankie, on September 17, 2021 at 4:30 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 7

I am interested in decorating my own wedding for a cheaper rate. I found shipour.wedding. Has anyone ever used them before? I am tempted to use them as it sounds like a legit deal, but I am a little worried.

Hi Frankie! I found accounts for them on WeddingWire and The Knot , but neither had any reviews.

Were you able to find any other online reviews for them??

Amazon & Hobby lobby have been my BEST friends during the last 2 years of wedding planning. I’ve gotten thinks from table runners to faux flowers (I recommend ling moments on Amazon), sweetheart table decor, signage, favors, etc!! I suggest you make a Pinterest board of some DIYs you have in mind and then look for the supplies on Amazon and or hobby lobby or even your local T.J.Maxx/ Target and get crafting! I’m so glad I DIYd some of my decor, it was super fun and looking back at the things I’ve done/made just excites me even more for the big day. It’s also a great bonding experience for you and the bridesmaids 🤍

Hi, I’ve seen wedding decorations for resale on Craigslist or FB marketplace as well. I think It’s worth a look especially to save money and even time as some decorations are already assembled with florals and such.

I am DIYing all the decor for my wedding, including vases for my centerpieces. I have found a ton of decor on Amazon, Facebook Marketplace, Goodwill and other thrift shops, and Hobby Lobby.

When purchasing on Facebook Marketplace, be prepared to shop often and pick up quickly! Most sellers won't hold items without payment so there were times where I would find an item for a great deal and leave immediately to go pick it up. Also, if you purchase multiple items from one seller, they may give you a discount.

Thrifting has been great for items such as vases (it was cheaper to thrift them than rent from my florist) and miscellaneous decor. I'd say that FB Marketplace and thrift stores work best for items that you don't have a really specific vison for - such as my centerpiece vases which I just wanted clear and to be a certain size but otherwise didn't care what they looked like. Look often and be prepared to buy quick.

Amazon worked well for items that I was specific about how they looked. I am having over 100 gold votives, so it was best for me to purchase those from Amazon since I wanted them all to some-what match. Plus I could return to buy more if needed.

By far my biggest DIY budget-saver was eucalyptus garland that I wanted down the center of all my farmhouse tables (114 feet total). My florist quoted me $1100 ($9.60/foot) to do them. I ended up finding a woman on Marketplace who had 120 6-foot faux eucalyptus garlands. I purchased 50 of them for $350 ($1.16/foot).

Have an open mind, start early, move quickly on items you want, and tune into your creative side. You can absolutely do this!
