diy dj

So we're thinking of doing a brunch wedding where ceremony is around 10:30/11:00 and we have to be done by 3:00pm. We are still doing our first dance, father/daughter, etc but since we'll only have a couple hours of reception is a DJ really necessary? I was thinking of just putting my brother in charge of a Spotify Playlist. Has anyone done this?

If you do this then will you have someone to announce the transitions (bridal party entrance, dances, call tables if buffet, cake cutting)?

Our venue is a restaurant so the buffet will be handled by the staff. I guess I didn't really think about the other things but is it necessary?

If your playlist will not skip then go with but I also thinks its wise to have a DJ at you wedding and reception. I make it more lively and fun. But I'm really voting for the real DJ

We are using Spotify playlists for our cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. My fiancé asked his groomsmen to make announcements and make sure the right songs are playing for our entrance/first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, etc.

We used a playlist. Our coordinator made announcements and made sure everything was working properly.
