Diy electronic seating chart

Ashley, on July 23, 2021 at 6:27 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7
So our venue has the option to display a seating chart on a tv they have hanging in the lobby but I cannot figure out how to or where to get a template for me to edit. Has anyone had experience like this and can help?

Never seen this. Is it similar to the tv screens they have at the DMV? If so, just list the assignments by name and table. Personally don’t like the idea because guests don’t pay attention to signs and they are expecting actual escort cards that the wait staff needs to get meals to the right people.

I love this idea! Do they have a digital signage company you can liaise with? You’ll want to have the aspect ratio, etc. right so I suggest googling “digital signage” + “your area” to find people who do this kind of thing. Even if they’re new to the wedding market, they’ll be able to help you with the technical side.

I’ve never seen this but think it’s a great idea. I’d ask your venue or vendor they contract with to supply the signage for templates or examples as they would know what works best.

It's very likely that the TV just displays images. So basically you can find and edit whatever template you want and save the visual representation as a JPEG and it will then be able to be displayed on the TV screen.

It would be helpful for you to get the dimensions of the TV screen just so you choose a template that is the right format ratio.

Depending on how the TV it set up you might be able to plug images in using a USB, you might be able to upload them using some sort of device and app service (like a Roku or Apple TV), or they may need to be pre-programmed in by someone who has administrative privileges using software at your venue. Regardless you should absolutely ask the venue what you need to to do be able to display your seating chart on their TV and they should be able to give you directions.

Yes, this is exactly what they want. I have the ratio and how I need to save it, my trouble is how or where can I find templates.

I would just buy a print template off of Etsy (the kind that you purchase, edit, and then print yourself). Then instead of printing you save the image as a JPEG and submit that to your venue.

Any service that does stationary (Zazzle, Minted, etc) should also have templates as well. You could theoretically edit these and screenshot them if you have a big enough computer monitor, but purchasing a print template off of an independent artist on Etsy would probably be easiest.
