diy Elopement

Matthew, on January 10, 2021 at 6:19 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 8
My Fiancé and Myself are doing the elopement route to save on a big wedding. It will be a very small and very underpriced ceremony. My questions are: What can i do to make it seem grand, while still only having 3 guest? We are renting an Airbnb for the “venue” as well as our stay to save. We are already in talks with an officiant who performs same gender weddings and is willing to travel meet us at or “non traditional” venue. I am a traditional “non-traditionalists” and would love a romantic theme. Thinking lots of flowing fabrics and candles? Or is that a fire hazard? Anyone know of a good free photo editor that is available on iPhone for the photos? Anyone in the San Antonio Area that would like to join in on the reception at a local bar/restaurant or suggestions? Getting married 01/16/2021!!!! 👀

Flameless led candles made of wax is a great way to go to avoid a fire hazard, you can also diy an arch with some chiffon drapery and some florals to make it romantic ❤️❤️❤️

Hi hi. To make it grand: 1st did you check with the air bnb to have the wedding there? They have a no party clause for all those that rent. Well not sure your budget but here is how you can make it grand as I had an elopement ceremony:

1 - hire professional photographers. Regardless of the size of the wedding pictures are memories to look back on. You can find some that may be more cost effective than others but truthfully none of my friends that went cheap on photography ever said how much they loved their pics but rather that they wish they had not or the photographer was ok for what they paid.

2 - I agree to do flameless candles. Still look up some DIY decor to make it look beautiful.

3 - Be it cost effective or not still get some nice suits. You two deserve to look great for the day.

4 - We went out for a nice dinner and had a two tier (YES TWO TIER BECAUSE I AM EXTRA AF LOL) wedding cake. Be it super market or professional get a cake and have the moment of a champagne toast and cutting the cake together. If you can do all at the air bnb then have a nicely catered dinner in. Worse case look into a hotel that will let you hold a small ceremony and dine there after wards or find a lovely park.

These are my suggestions because I am bougie on a budget for lack of a better term. Even though we did a small ceremony I still wanted it to be nice and feel like a wedding and it was. You can still go big on a budget. Best of luck.

I eloped and planned it all but I can’t say it was cheap.

Depending on your venue, you can go very minimal with decor. We got married in the dessert and had no decor because the scenery was already beautiful. But if want flowers, you can do faux. I like arches and drapery and know you can make it or rent it. I made our cake myself but you can get it from a grocery store.
I know small picnics are being more and more trendy; you could even look into hiring one of those companies to set things up for you. Or if you wanna take that on you can DIY.
    Good luck!

Thank you so much for all the ideas and advice. I too am B.O.B.(Bougie on a budget). As to your concern on our AirBnb, I did ask permission before even attempting to contact any officiants. It will only 3 guest. Plus my fiancé and myself. So VERY intimate!! 😊

Congratulations on your wedding!! Thank you for the ideas and suggestions. They won’t be taken lightly. I was thinking of doing my photos around San Antonio, where there isn’t a permit fee. Any suggestions??

I did photos where we didn’t need a permit also, great idea! It was also very quick (because it was just my husband and I) so we were able to get in and out.

I’m not familiar with that area so I don’t have any specific recommendations but I searched google for options. It was a helpful starting point for me.
