I never really pictured myself with a bouquet but FH really wanted me to have one so I DIYed it. We are having like a 1920s vibe at our wedding and our centerpieces are feathers (the venue is providing the centerpieces). I've only DIYed a few times, but I am pretty happy with these results. I'm...

I never really pictured myself with a bouquet but FH really wanted me to have one so I DIYed it. We are having like a 1920s vibe at our wedding and our centerpieces are feathers (the venue is providing the centerpieces). I've only DIYed a few times, but I am pretty happy with these results. I'm going to trim everything up a little bit before the big day, but what do you all think? Our colors are navy blue, gold, and like an ivory/champagne. My dress is champagne with an ivory lace overlay so I was trying to tie that all in. (side note, I don't really like flowers so I really didn't want any). Thoughts? Smiley smile

Remember to carry it low! That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Use your bouquet to cover your lady bouquet, not your chest.

ETA: loving the feathers. Great DIY!

Sorry, but from a design standpoint, the tight grouping of the crystal pieces clustered together defeats the ethereal look that crystals pics are intended to give. What you've created is a bunch of feathers with a tight grouping of silver wired rhinestones. What you want to create is a feathered bouquet with tiny glints of light emanating from everywhere. In other words, you notice the light refraction -- not the wired glass pieces.

It's completely up to you, but if you handed me that bouquet, I'd make some alterations. To begin with, the feathers are the focal point, so spread them out (even if that means using a bouquet form with Styrofoam and spending a little more money on a few more feathers to create a full shape). Once you get a beautiful, spherical shape of the feathers (and that isn't difficult), put the crystal pics into the styrofoam so that that they are an accent, not a bunch of glass. Forgive me if this sounds offensive -- I'm just trying to get you to the end result.

Separate the crystal pics...pic by pic. Then look at your feather bouquet. You want those crystals to peek out of the feathers, lay under the feathers, or maybe a few of them will reach beyond the feathers. Ideally, they should be picking up light and reflecting it. That's all they need to do, and they will -- they shouldn't be calling attention to the fact that they are rhinestones on wires, and as it is, that's what it looks like. Again, I'm sorry if that offends you.

This isn't exactly what I'm picturing, but it's a start. See how the light from the crystals enhances the feathers rather than competing with them?
