diy Floral Table Centerpieces - Tips? How did it go for yours?

Karla, on June 2, 2022 at 10:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello!

I will be DIY'ing floral centerpiece arrangements for my wedding. I already bought cheap vases and will be ordering my flowers from either Fifty Flowers or Sam's/ Costco. I will be doing about 10 table centerpiece arrangements + two flower bouquets for MOH and myself. Keeping it simple mostly all white flowers + greenery.

Any tips? Suggestions? If you DYI'ed your flowers what went wrong and what to avoid?

I DIY'd my centerpieces with Fifty Flowers, but just bud vase arrangements so nothing large/complicated. My biggest issue was keeping certain flowers alive. I wanted ranunculus but they're super fragile - I thought keeping them in my basement would be cool enough but I should've stored them in my fridge from the beginning - they looked a little past their prime day-of. Also have a game plan ready to go for transporting them (it was hard to keep the vases from knocking into each other/ruffling the arrangements once I put them in a box in my car) and make sure you have someone to set them all up and take them down! Overall, I had a great experience with Fifty Flowers and would definitely recommend them (we also ordered premade greenery garlands from Costco and would also recommend, they were great). Making the arrangements was a little stressful with yet another task the day before, but my mom and bridesmaids helped, so it went quick, looked great, and saved us a TON of money, so it was worth it! Good luck!

I am not doing centerpieces - but I am making my own bouquets (3 + mine) - we are planning to have room to store in the fridge and I am doing a practice run this weekend. I am trying to not have it be overly complicated. Only 3 different flowers each

We are doing our own as well to to save money so I forgot to take the picture of it. But they will look beautiful with the candle lighting up the room for the look that we want which is romantic elegance. And we are making the bouquets and bountaires for my wedding party it will save us some money.

THANK YOU, this was very helpful as I was also trying to get ranunculus! I may opt for a different flower then. If you don't mind me asking, are there any other flowers you got that were easy to work with?

You're welcome! The ranunculus were so pretty but SO fragile - their stems were like green onions where they were kind of hollow. You could try getting them delivered a little closer to your wedding day, but of course you run the risk of possible delays (mine were actually delivered a day early!), or keep them in the fridge as much as possible. I only got those + blue thistle and baby eucalyptus (both of which were super easy to work with), but considered adding mini roses - otherwise, that was it! Since they were going in bud vases, I only had like 2-3 stems of each flower in each vase.
