diy Flowers

Rachel, on November 12, 2020 at 9:10 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Hello!

I am getting married in May 2021 and am contemplating DIY flowers in order to save money. The style of our wedding is eclectic-romantic-boho-garden. I was wondering if anyone has any advice? My biggest concern is an arbor piece. There will be an arbor above us where we will get married and I would like to be able to decorate that with some sort of floral arrangement. Anyone ever done this? If so, what tips do you have? Also, just looking for tips in general! Thank you!

Honestly, I recommend DIY flowers. I saved a ton of money this way. I made four bouquets, and my hair piece.

Michael’s and Hobby Lobby have sales often where flowers are 50% off. So I went then and bought them all. Total of all four bouquets and hair piece was $120 max.

Beautiful! Good to know, did you use real or faux flowers?

Hi! My wedding is in October 2021 and I plan on doing DIY Flowers through FiftyFlowers. They have a bunch of different packs with several types of flowers or you can buy a single type of flower. I’ve been watching a bunch of YouTube videos on how to make things like bouquets, boutonnières, centerpieces, and arbor pieces. I would recommend watching some of those to see if you think it would be realistic to do yourself!

Fake flowers! On my bouquet, hobby lobby sells “lifelike” flowers. So they feel like real flowers! I paid extra for a few of them but it was just used on my bouquet!

Hi! I've checked out their website a few times, did you do research on other sites before you chose to go with them? There's so many to choose from. Also, did you work with a stylist or did you just pick and choose for yourself? I've watched a few videos myself but definitely need to watch more!

Fiftyflowers.com has a wide variety and are actually cheaper than most fake flowers.

Use zipties to attach them to an arbor.

YES! I have been making my flowers for myself and brides maids including out floral centerpeices. I was quoted for thousands of dollars for what I was looking for and I have spent just a little over $200 making my florals. I would say it does take time and patience to make, but if you're looking to save money/ have some time to dedicate to it then it is totally worth it!

    Beautiful flowers btw!

I also did my flowers diy with global roses I bought 100 carnations and 50 eucalyptus stems and I additionally purchased 12 roses , 6 bunches of baby’s breath , and 12 pink carnations from Tom Thumb and I was able to make 8 bridesmaid bouquets, 1 bridal bouquet and 3 flower arrangements. It was a hassle cutting off an inch and putting them in water to make sure they opened and I had to make them the day before the wedding so they looked fresh but I spent a total of 200 dollars with all the other supplies like floral tape, ribbon and hot glue and they came out great. diy Flowers 2

I am doing faux flowers as well! Pinterest and youtube are great resources. I am going to get my flowers from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. My MOH took a botany class in college and did her sisters faux flowers so hopefully we will get a good result.
