DIY Glitter Hanger

alyshadanielle, on February 6, 2015 at 10:19 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

I know we had this conversation yesterday, but I wanted to post pictures for those who asked! Like I said before, I attempted to use modge podge and glitter to cover the hangers and I failed tremendously. I am not sure if I was doing it wrong, but after covering my house with glitter and working on them for 3 days, I gave up. I was going to completely veto the idea of having a pretty hanger until I thought about using spray paint instead.

So I went to Hobby Lobby and got Krylon's Glitter Blast in Silver and some white acrylic paint. I did one coat of acrylic with a sponge brush because I didn't know how well the spray paint would cover. When that dried I took it outside and hung it on the tree so I could spray it. A few minutes later, I have a pretty hanger - and it was SO EASY! One coat did the trick but I did 2 just because.

Its not as chunky & blingy looking as it would be if I used actual glitter, but at this point in planning, I am all about easy stuff.

Awww I like it!! I think with the bigger glitter, even modge podging over it, you'd probably be getting glitter everywhere and on the clothes. You done good!!!

Glad I could help! But just beware - using glitter spray paint will give you some crazy empowerment that will make you think you can spray anything and make it pretty.. (like shoes)! When I was done, I thought to myself "What else can I glitterize?!" lmao. I almost went crazy with it.

@JK8115 - you gotta show us pics!

Really nice! I love that glitter spray paint! A couple of weeks ago I sprayed a big letter 'P' I got from Michaels. It turned out great! I've been looking for other things to spray, your idea is good.

Haha I hear ya with the glitter spray power! I bought a few cans to use on centerpieces, but decided against it. Now I need something new to glitter - just might go buy some hangers!! Thanks for the idea!!

Mine have notches too, I just don't have them in the pictures. I got them at Lowes.

ETA - They come in sets of 5 or 10.

Wow, it looks great! Now you have me thinking about all the things I could glitter spray for my wedding lol. Glitter is contagious or something.
