diy greenery garland care- need help

Joanna, on December 14, 2018 at 6:39 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10
Hi everyone!

So I’m planning to DIY a bunch of garlands from a eucalyptus mix pack from fiftyflowers, and I was wondering if anyone had experience with the care for greenery before your wedding day (especially garlands)?

I’m reading to place the bunches in buckets when you first receive them, which I get. But when is the best time to assemble them into garlands before my wedding? And once they are assembled into garland form, how could I care for them then to ensure they don’t get dried out or wilty (since buckets is out of the picture at this point for them once they are tied together)?

Bridesmaids and I are planning to have some craft and wine nights to prep for all this. Just want to know if anyone had experience with the care of garlands before and have any tips.

Thanks,
Joanna

Yes I have looked. I’ve come across articles that are either how to DIY a garland or how to care for greenery when they are in bunches, but not really anything helpful on how to care for garlands once you’ve made them and when is the best time to assemble them before a wedding, which is why I’m asking for anyone with personal experience doing this

My florist made my garlands but I took them home after the wedding and they stayed fresh and green for at least a week after my wedding. I didn't put them in water.

Hi Joanna! Greenery has a way longer lifespan than fresh cut flowers! Garlands kept indoors should be able to last around two weeks! Therefore, you should be fine to assemble the garlands a few days before your wedding as long as you keep them inside! Smiley smile

Keep them indoors and give them a spritz of water twice a day if possible

Of course!! Just be sure to keep them temperature controlled, and maybe mist every day for a little extra moisture, and you should be okay!

If your wedding is Saturday I would recommend assembling them on Wednesday keep them in the fridge if possible once assembled, put them in boxes, and cover with trash bags and spray them with a floral mist
