DIY happenings (Emmy: doily dye update!)

Mrs. F-u-..., on October 6, 2014 at 8:18 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 16

Long story short, an Etsy seller stood me up and left me hanging on some navy blue paper doilies that I planned to use as my centerpiece base (I did get a refund after the product never came). Emmy sent me a link to DIY paper doilies and here are the results, Emmy!

I would need to research how to get more vivid colors. All I could get was pastel colors. I added more dye but it didn't help. My son had a lot of fun helping out! And then my nephew jumped in an mixed some dye and ended up with green ones. I followed instructions for navy, and all I got was pastel. Solution in comments!

I used spray paint to change our Mr and Mrs letters to blue from black and I had spray paint left over so I decided to try it on a paper doily and on a cardboard cake circle. The doily turned out great and it is so much easier to do than the dyeing process!!!!

Here is it in a mock centerpiece (different flowers will be used and floating candles, probably white, will be in the glass bowls).
