DIY message in a bottle invitations.

Any DIY brides doing message in the bottle invitations? What are you doing to secure the mailing box during shipping. I don't want it to open. Any advice?

I'm no help, but following. I think this is a cute idea.

Also, You might get more responses if you change your avatar. Normally when people see the rings, they normally keep going. It does not have to be a picture of you, just any picture works. Smiley smile

I'm sorry... So your question is how to seal a mailing box during shipping so it doesn't open? Tape. Lots of tape.

I really don't think there's any fancy way to mail something like this. I wouldn't want to pay the postage for all of these! Also why I'm avoiding square invites....

We did message in the bottle STDs. May I ask where did you get the bottles from? We picked up samples from Hobby Lobby and then when I figured out how many I needed we ordered online. They came in mini boxes that had styrofoam around them to keep them from breaking so I order nice white shipping boxes and reused the styrofoam. Luckily it fit inside the white boxes I ordered. You may want to check the local craft store for "packaging" material that they just discard. Also, I pushed the cork down enough to seal it but to keep it from opening. We used clear shipping tape to close the boxes once complete - one full circle around the box.

FYI - We skipped on the sand as we thought it would be a nuisance when people turned the bottle over to get the message out. I will post a picture for you to see.

@Alexis is right. Our shipping cost with boxes were $3.44 each. So glad our invitations were only $.70 each.

Heading to the post office tomorrow. I'm only mailing about 15. The rest are being hand delivered. Each invitation is wrapped with a small amount of string so they are easy to get out. Don't need to tip over to avoid sand spilling. I also placed very LITTLE sand to avoid extra weight. Came up with ideas via Pinterest on how to seal shipping box. Did a lot of DIY projects so figured I could spend a little with these. The cost is estimated to be about $2.00 each. We will see tomorrow.

After getting rest, I just now understand what you were asking.

Opps! I feel dumb now. Yesterday was a long day haha.
