DIY Photo Booth Backdrop w/ Pictures

Nicole, on February 18, 2013 at 12:21 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I searched the web for days looking for a photo booth backdrop. For the style and size I wanted the price was around $100. I'm only going to use it for one day, therefore I'm not willing to pay that much. My DIY project (tax included) came to a total of $17.10. I am beyond excited with the outcome!

4'x8' pink foam insulation board from Home Depot - $10

3 yards of fabric from Walmart - $5

Staple gun and staples - Free (had at home already)

I found the fabric on sale in a scrap bin. I'm so glad I continued to search around because I almost purchased fabric from Hobby Lobby for $12 a yard. Yikes! I'm not in love with it but for the price and considering my yellow vintage chairs I will be using, it's perfect.

It's pretty simple. I just stretched the fabric around the board and staple gunned it to the back. I had my fiancé help me so my fabric would be tight.

    We did a total DIY photo booth and just used a cool curtain panel from Walmart as our backdrop -- $10 and it did the job! Yours looks much nicer, though. Are you just having the backdrop or also providing the camera and a picture print out?

    How are you doing a photo booth DIY? Are you having someone sit there to take pictures, or do you have a tripod with the handheld button thingy? Im curious about this, because i want a photobooth but they are $150 for two hours here!

    Lauren - May not be a big deal to some, but when the whole wedding budget is only $2000, and we would have it for about six hours, thats $450, almost a quarter of the budget. No way.

    @Angel..

    I purchased some props from Party City. I also went to the Dollar Tree to get more 3D props: hats, wigs, empty frames, signs, etc. My initial plan was to have a camera on a tripod and allow the guest to take pics of each other. I have seen this at a previous wedding and it actually went great. It made everyone socialize more and interact with others they probably wouldn't otherwise talk to.

    However, after meeting with our photographer we can add another photographer to our package for $100 more. She will bring her own camera and manage the area during the whole reception. No fuss for me!

    After the wedding I'm going to print and send everyone their pictures along with Thank You cards.

    I also borrowed two chairs from a family friend that match our overall wedding theme to use for guest to sit on.

    @Angel I wasn't saying that $150 wasn't a lot of money I was just saying that in comparison to $400 that's a big difference...I got one quote for almost $1600... I about peed my pants laughing so hard when I got the email... no thank you!

    @ Nicole... love those chairs!!! It's going to be so darn cute!!! so inspiring... I didn't think we could do our own photobooth... but now I'm thinking we might be able to pull it off Smiley winking
