DIY Photo Booth

Would a photo booth with no printed out photo strips be cheesy? I was thinking about just making a backdrop, getting a little lighting from Lowes, a few props, and a tripod/camera setup but not involving the computer and printer and all that. I thought maybe I'd print the photos and send them in they're thank you cards. Also, they can use their cell phones obviously. Has anyone done this?
