DIY photobooth- printing questions

Jessica, on January 22, 2017 at 10:59 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I have been looking into these photo booths you can rent from a lot of the wedding photography companies but we are trying to go as cost effective as possible. I have come across many DIY booth ideas and apps and am loving the idea of them. Even if I have to pay $59.99 for the app, that's better than the $1300 to rent the booth. My question though is most of the printing options I see use a wireless printer, or "air printer" and I don't know what to do about the fact that our venue is in a Rustic area and doesn't get great cell service and there is no wifi. (Which is actually good for everything BUT the printing from an ipad situation) Does anyone have any suggestions of how to get it to print without the wireless connection?

The one I was taking a real close look at was "Simple Booth" if that makes any difference but there are many great ones.

It wouldn't be quite the same but have you considered polaroids? I would think guests would be willing to snap a quick photo for each other and you could still put out props. The picture would print right away and you wouldn't have to worry about internet connection.

Some printers can print via Bluetooth. I'd look for one of those. Then pair the printer with the iPad you're using Simple Booth for (great app choice, btw. I ended up hiring a company, but I also looked into Simple Booth and was very impressed).

It won't use WiFi or cell service. Only Bluetooth and you just need the device to be close by

$1300 is outrageous for a photo booth. I found some great deals on groupon. We originally wanted to DIY our photo booth, but its gonna save us money to rent one from groupon. The one we found is 500 for 4 hours with prints and digital copies for us and has all the props

We are doing a DIY one having a local lady take photos then she will give me a disc and I will print off or upload them to Facebook. She's only charging me 250 for 4-5 hours

Maybe it depends on where you live but I'm tossing around the idea of a photobooth if I can save in other areas and they're $400-$600 and I haven't even looked on groupon. But yes, the DIY would be much cheaper, but I don't want my guests to worry about troubleshooting (printer jams, gets disconnected, runs out of paper, etc)

There is also that new digital polariod camera that you can choose what picture to automatically print. I have a friend that is planning to do that for her wedding instead of the photobooth, since all the quotes she got was around $1000, which is insane (all the ones in my area were the same as FutureMrsE between 400-600 range).

We are making our own back drop and buying props, and having people use selfie sticks. So instead of a photo booth we are going with Selfie Booth!!! It costed 150 to do everything!

This popped up on my Instagram yesterday https://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-Instax-Share-Printer-SP-1/dp/B00HYAL84Q/ref=sr_1_18?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1485181366&sr=1-18&keywords=fujifilm+instax

They have other ones too. These are printers that connect via bluetooth to people's phones and print the photos.
