diy Photobooth

Katie, on August 23, 2021 at 3:23 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

We would like to do our own photo booth at our wedding, but we are having a hard time deciding the best way to do the pictures. I would like to avoid having to hire a vendor and just use a pipe frame and curtain for the backdrop. I originally liked the idea of using a polaroid camera for the photo booth and for the guest book, but (based on a discussion post on here from 2018) there seems to be a lot of cons for that. I wouldn't mind if guests took pictures for themselves, but I don't want people to forget to leave a picture in our guest book. In addition, I've read that some people use their phone or iPad, but I would hate for anything to get knocked over and broken. Any thoughts or suggestions? Is it easier just to hire a vendor? Thanks in advance for the help!!

You could just set up your iPad and to avoid it becoming damaged, you can ask your venue to assign a member from their waitstaff to assist guests.

From other forums I read if you have a website you can also have guest upload their pictures to your website if they take pictures from their cameras. Just an additional thought. So they can have the option of taking photos with the iPad/ Polaroid etc leave a picture or upload the pictures.

I ended up getting the polaroid photobooth. I used it at my bridal shower and was very easy to work with.

I've seen a few polaroid guest books at weddings and they've worked really well!! Just have the guest book prominently displayed by the photo booth with a little sign directing your guests! 📷

I purchased the Canon Selphie printer from Best Buy for a fraction of what a photobooth would run. we bought a back drop and picked up a bunch of props at a party supply store. then I pre cut black craft paper to fit in the phot album and set up a basket with chalk pens and gold and silver pens so people can write us a message below their picture. the canon selphie printer is blue tooth capable but we opted to use a designated phone camera so we don't have to instruct guest on connecting to the printer

We are not having a photo booth. I love them and think it would be fun but we are getting disposable cameras and having our guests take selfies and group photos. We will get them developed and make a book and send them out in our thank you letters.

We had two options: used a polaroid camera + magnetic clothespins on a magnetic board for our cocktail hour space, and set up a ring light + backdrop in the main ballroom in a corner. People used their own devices and the photographer even got to sneak in a few photos of the family! We created a shared Google Photo folder so we could have access to the pictures everyone took at the booth (and throughout the weekend).

We’re doing Polaroids and instead of having our guests put them in our guest book we have a huge chicken wire “frame” you could say, that have small close pins for our guests to hang their pictures up on! When it’s time to clean up, we’ll put all of the photos in a designated box & my FH & I will make a scrapbook together. Less work for your guests and a cute little at home date for you and your new husband!!!
