DIY PVC PIPE RIBBON BACKDROP HELP.

Becca, on May 13, 2015 at 6:06 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

Hi. My wedding is in 17 days! I already have all the ribbon cut and it is currently all tied to a thick white rope because I was planning on tacking it to the wall. It is to heavy and my venue does not allow tacking or nailing. There for I am making my own pvc pipe back drop. I already have my measurements BUT HERES WHERE I NEED HELP: From past experience how much of the backdrop should i assemble at home and how much should i save and do at the venue? I have to be able to transport it in a car. ALSO: should I keep the ribbon on the rope and tie it to the top pvc pipe piece or should i individually tie the ribbon to the pipe? I would like to keep ribbon in good condition so it can be reused by my friend. Thanks for any advice Smiley smile

Attaching the ribbon to the rope before hand will make set up a lot quicker. Once you do that I would hang the rope/ribbon on a hanger and transport it in a garment bag. It'll keep the ribbon from getting crinkled. To attach the ribbon the the rope I would double the ribbon length that you need, fold it in half, lay your rope across, and pull the ribbon through the loop at the top so you aren't actually making a knot in the ribbon.

We are planning on doing our own back drop as well. What material are you use using for the backdrop? My fiancé and I are using white sheets from Walmart.

Here is something i found by googling PVC wedding backdrop frame.

you just need to make sure that the pieces will be short enough to fit in the car. use pvc connectors to put the pieces together. if everything is measured to the same lengths it shouldn't be too hard to put together.

Attach the ribbon to the the top pipe and I would probably do the base and the bottom support pipe (if you have a truck that can transport it like that) and attach the top and side pipes when you get to the location.

If your just putting the top pipe with the ribbon into the car and driving, the ribbon should be fine during the drive. But if you're really concerned, which I don't think you need to be) you can always cut open large garbage backs, bunch up the ribbon and wrap the bags around the ribbon as an added protection

Pre-attach the ribbon to the top pipe and do what Maltese suggested.

you could also add trim to the top of the rope along the pipe before had if you don't like the way it looks (idk what the rope looks like) i think i would want to hide the pipe.

If the ribbon is already tied to the rope I would just use zip ties to attach it instead of undoing them and putting them on the pipe. No real suggestions on the pvc part. Other than you might have to get some Union fittings so you can cut the pieces short enough to go in your car.
