Standard white aisle runner. Blue satin table runners. What is the best way to attach the satin runners to the center of the aisle runner? Does it have to be sewn? Are the fabric glues really good enough? Found a craft duct tape that matches PERFECTLY, would it be tacky to tape it down? Any other...

I've heard awful things about how bad runners look after the guests, then bridal party walk on them before the bride. If it's not put down until right before she walks, then it can't be secured. I decided to forgo one, even though I hate the carpet at the venue.

I had a thought last night after reading this and considering other fmil posts. Please take it as just that--a thought. Do you think your fdil is sending you on wild goose chases?

And now, a vent: When I first saw your post my first thought was isn't this the aisle runner you don't even get to walk down/be escorted to your seat? I remember that was very important to you.

You said you're doing the best you can and I believe you. Try doing less. When fdil drags up pictures, just nod and say "Pretty." If she wants it, let her find a way. She can get her kids to do it, maybe.

Just thoughts, one mom/mil to another Smiley smile

You could get a white runner, fold it in half the long way, and dip dye the folded middle part in blue dye

Liquid Stitch works really well. I use it all the time for different things. You can get it at any craft store.

I'd consider sewing it down, otherwise it might be a tripping hazard if there is a gap.

Okay, I worked on it last night. Taping with the double stick tape on just the sides left the middle puffy. Tried putting tape in the middle too and it created a ridge that looked like a drunken stripe. Tried sewing it and the aisle runner kept puckering. Haven't made it out to look for the stich witch. I'm gonna have to tell her that apparently I don't have the skills to do it.

MWMay, what is the surface (grass, sand, carpeting, tile)?

I've officiated over 1,500 weddings and have noticed that aisle runners are almost always a problem. When to roll it out, who will roll it out, who gets to walk on it, where does it start and end, will she have to step over the unrolled portion, who rolls it up afterwards? They are difficult to walk on if placed on uneven grass, sand, or gravel with heels punching through it. If it is on tile, marble, or terrazzo, it slips and slides. If it is on carpeting, it creeps.
