Curious how many people had destination wedding or planning a be and still DIY your decor? I would love to see what you have come up with, and thoughts about doing your own decor.

I may make a sign or two myself or something but generally I’m having someone else do it so that I don’t have to try to bring it with me

Technicallyyyy our wedding is "destination" because it's in my hometown but we live in another country at the moment. So my mom and brother's wife are helping to collect some second hand decor pieces for the flower vases. We'll be getting to the "destination" a week ahead so I can print off all the signage that I'm doing ahead of time on Canva and DIY the flowers 2 days ahead. Our caterer is also the coordinator and I know she has some small decor pieces we can ask to borrow. I don't know if the hotel you'll stay at or venue could let you order things ahead if it makes you less stressed? We'll also be taking some things from where we live on the plane like guest book, out of town bag items for guests, and my DIY headpiece. I don't know if any of that is very helpful, but good luck!

I'm wondering the same Jade! I am a total DIY type person -- I like making things and designing and decorating. But I also am planning to get married on the other side of the country in a town where I don't have strong personal connections (New Orleans).

Because I want the wedding to feel as much like a fun vacation as possible for myself and the bridal party, we are hiring a day of coordinator and I am trying to be as modest as possible with how much decor I want to attempt.

My main priorities are guest experience, photographs (pics or it didn't happen!) and lighting (cuz you can't have good pics with poor lighting! I'm looking at rentals for uplighting, string lights and LED candles in mercury glass holders for a moody vibe). I do want to have one cool spooky tablescape (the wedding is on Halloween), so I plan to bring some photographs of people who have passed over, black lace table cloths, and a large steer skull that belonged to my grandparents to be arranged among the rented candles and linens.

I am designing the save the dates, invites and wedding website myself, and my bridesmaids and I are making our own witchy flower crowns and our bouquets are going to be in the form of broomsticks we make with dried flowers and herbs.
