diy rustic bullet casing boutinneres

Tiffany, on October 25, 2019 at 12:34 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 15
When browsing Pinterest a few months back I saw some really cool shotgun shell/bullet boutinneres for the guys! I decided I wanted to try and make them for my wedding. They sell them on etsy but they were expensive.

Luckily my fiance and I love to spend time at the range! Last time we went, he shot his brand new AR, so I just collected the casings afterwards to take home.

I washed them this morning. I have way more than I'll need for the boutinneres! So I have plenty to practice on! I tried several different methods of decorating--different combinations of twine and ribbon. I think I prefer the look of the all twine one, and I also like the one with ribbon and a little twine bow. I may end up doing a mix of several styles.

I just hot glued little pin things on the back. The only issue is that when I pinned it onto my shirt it kind of flops over with the flowers in there. Not sure if it's because my shirt is very thin, the flowers are too heavy or the pin wasn't glued on high enough 🤔 going to have to experiment some more with that!

Do it! It's fun and has been pretty easy. My FH and 4/5 of his guys are police officers so they were excited about the idea. I may try to use the extras in my table centerpieces somehow 🤔

I think the pin isn't high enough. I know when you do fresh flower bouts the pin goes in pretty close to the top to balance the weight of the flowers.

    I like the colors!

That's good to know! Thank you! I'll try the next one like that and see. As long as they're not upside down I guess no one would notice that much anyways haha.

I was nervous about trying it out. I was afraid the bullets I was using would be too narrow! Most of the ones on Pinterest are made with bigger caliber bullets or actual shotgun shells. These were just . 556 bullets but it seems to work! I was glad I could fit a few leaves in there as well as the flowers.

Love this! We're doing the same thing, just without the twine Smiley smile My FH is asking his groomsmen their favorite round of ammo, so each one will have a personalized brass boutonniere! Smiley smile
