diy Save the Dates

For all you DIY brides out there, try this cool card making hack! Place your paper on a slightly raised surface like this ruled mat pictured below. Allow the edge of the paper to hang off slightly. Then take a nickel and run it along the edge of the mat across the paper until an ident forms. Repeat on all four sides and trim off excess paper making the remaining sides as straight as possible. Then you have a super snazzy save the date, made from scratch!!

Thank you! I actually fell in love with a few designs on Pinterest and wanted to replicate them. They were leafy and looked watercolor. So I bought some nice watercolor paint that matched my weddings color scheme and then some reusable stencils. I am hand writing all of them with my calligraphy markers, and adding watercolor details with the stencil to guide me. The invitations, while made slightly differently, are being done the same way. And then the RSVP cards I am adding to the invites were made with stamps! All together I believe I have the materials for nearly 200 of each and I have only spent $100 on it all!

The hope is to have all of them completed, addressed and ready to send by this June (which would be a year out from the wedding). Because my family lives so far away we are hoping to give plenty of advance. Then we will send formal invitations later on.
