What is an engravable mat? Do you have a pic for an example?

This is an engravable mat, it is silver and you get an engravable scribe to engrave in the mat as you write. It is really much nicer than having a white mat in the photo frame and just using a pen or sharpie to write.

They are so expensive to buy, so I want to try and make one but I cannot find an engravable mat to purchase separate from the frame.

I saw those at the bridal show and that's what the fiancé and I want to get instead of a guest book too.. I would say look at all crafts stores.. Michaels, hobby lobby., maybe a framing store would have that engravable thing to put in

Still a fairly new trend so the prices won't come down for a while, There are many online places you can get one for $150 ish, which seems like a good price to me. What we have found is if you know a good custom framer in town, they can usually find what you need and at a comparable price. So I would take sample pictures from the web and go to a good framer and see what they can do for you!
