*DIY Table Skirts, I am in LOVE!!!!* Pics!!

Krystal, on August 3, 2015 at 11:52 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 42

This is a project I have been longing to get to! I needed to wait until close the wedding as these are a pain to store (wrapped on a hanger so they don't wrinkle). What does everyone think? This isn't completely done, I am adding more strips as we speak, I want a very full look!! This is for the head-table.

OK, I'll admit it. I don't know what this is.

What is that? is it toilet paper?

i don't want to be mean, but it really looks like toilet paper and I'm afraid it would be mean NOT to tell you that.

I don't get it...I understand it is a table skirt, but are you doing one for every table, just a specific table?

Sorry, but I'm not feeling it. Can you do this with even strips of tulle instead? This looks like different pieces of fabric, stained with blood in some places, and the creases in the fabric are seen in some of the pieces. I would buy new tulle do make it from the same color and more full, and all even strips (with no seams). Or maybe just don't do one. Not of fan of this one at all.

It looks like someone making a skirt at a shower playing the "make a dress for the bride" with toilet paper. Do you have an inspiration picture maybe we can give you other suggestions? Not trying to be mean but I just can't picture it.

I think this is a fabric tassle skirt? Can you show a picture of it on a table from a more centered angle?

It's hard to visualize... Is this what you are using as an inspiration?

Lol Oh man, I wasn't expecting this reaction! Haha! It's kind of difficult to give it justice in the photos, but it is strips of sheets and sheer curtains. My lighting isn't the best. The "blood" is actually embroidered rosettes. I have added a ton more to it...just a couple minuets and I will post some updated pics. Smiley smile

I think it could be cute - what color will the mail table cloth be?

What are the table covers gonna be? Since those are light colors you'll want something to contrast with.

What I plan on doing is using those heavy-duty table cloth clips from the camping section to secure this around the table, and I have a simple almond colored table cloth with slightly scalloped edge to it and a little bit of wide lined embroidery that will go over the top to hide the edge and finish off the look!

I think if you contrast it, it wouldn't look as bad. Definitely not wit white linens, you'll have to show us the final look because I'm curious!

I will post more pics when I stage the entire table. Oh, btw, this is for the head table only.

I would love to see the scalloped edge table clothe over it. Might complete the look Smiley smile

Nope, could never blow you ladies off, your input is invaluable against making huge mistakes!! Lol! The frustrating part is that I know the pictures look awful, but in person I am quite pleased. My camera is like 10years old! Lol The FH and I are going to run to K-Mart to get the clips when he gets home from work and then I will be doing the staging, I'll post some more pics then!

Honestly, I still think it would look better with new pieces of tulle so you don't see the hems are various lengths in the fabric. Is this fabric important to you? In the pictures you added later, I still could barely tell they were rosettes. So I'm not sure anyone would notice until they were close up in person. Can you move it so the fabric strips are the same length? Some are shorter on one end than the other, which are shorter than others. It just looks odd.

But all in all, if you are happy with how it looks and the fabric means something to you and that is why you are using it, then yes, it looks much better having it fuller. The clips you mentioned should work fine. But remember you will need a couple for the middle of the strand, too, because the weight will make it sag a little.

I plan on getting several packs of clips as it is very heavy. What I'm going for here is a shabby-chic look. With the human eye, you can for sure tell it's floral detailing in there. The various lengths are part of the over all look. I would say the final product has almost double the amount of coverage as the last photos I posted. There is not a stitch of tulle in my wedding anywhere as it is a country rustic feel, mostly lace, burlap and dusty rose pinks.
