DIY toasting flutes

Summer, on April 29, 2012 at 10:21 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

I'm thinking of just buying some cheap walmart toasting glasses and decorating them myself, but havent found any ideas I like so far. Has anyone done this and has pictures to share?

Or any ideas to decorate them?

thanks

I didn't do my own since they came as part of our package. However, at places like Michael's, they sell glass engraving solution. All you need is some tape, or the specialty glass engraving paper, cut out what you want your deign to look like, put the template on the flute, paint on the solution and let sit according to directions, peel off template, and voila your own toasting flutes.

What about something like this - would be very easy to do as you can get the crystal monograms at Michaels or Hobby Lobby and then just tie ribbons in your colors at the base?

Here's ours, the first pic is of the ones in a magazine for $84 the second are the ones I did. I bought wine glasses at good will (we're having wine instead of champagne) and everything else from Micheals, it came up to under $10

We just had our cheap-y glasses engraved, then I tossed a ribbon on them. Another bride posted this cool DIY thing that I might do at a later date, using silicone adhesive and some beads and such.

Ugh, we went to Things Remembered to engrave them professionally. They look great! But it cost $45 total. I thought about doing the DIY engraving stuff, but FH said "no, we will spring for it to be done by a pro." I thought it was too much money! We added some to the cost with the little swoosh-y thing between our names and the date.

I would do the etching myself. Megan H is right, they do have this stuff at Michaels. I got the solution for 7 bucks with the coupon and I got the wedding stencil kit they have for another 7.

It was well worth it and it's pretty idiot proof(hence the reason i did it)
