diy Unity candle

Summer, on April 24, 2018 at 6:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 3

Is it easy to attach a ribbon and gemstones to a block candle with a simple glue gun or is there a better technique? Should I attach the gems to the ribbon first or after it's on the candle?

I LOVE that style and I know you can buy them on Etsy, etc. but don't have the budget left to be spending $50+ on a set.

Maybe attaching it directly to the candle may not be the best idea, the wax may melt the glue or run over the ribbon and then look messy. You could put the candle in a "vase/candle holder etc" and then wrap the "vase".

I have never worked ribbon and gemstones into a candle. However, I have worked pressed flowers into candles. I imagine it could work about the same way with the ribbons and gemstones. To get the pressed flowers to stick to a candle I take a hair blow drier and use it to melt the wax around the outside of the candle, where I want to attach the flowers to. I press the flowers into the wax and continue to melt the wax with the blow drier and the wax melts over the flower a bit. Your hand may get a little hot but its not too bad. You might need to melt the wax more than I do for the pressed flowers because the ribbon and gems would be a bit thicker.
