Diy-unplugged Chalkboard

Megan, on March 1, 2019 at 8:45 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22

Happy with how my DIY chalkboard sign came out...it only took me 4 hours lol...I used my silhouette cameo to make the stencil and then I used a chalk marker to trace. If I did it over I would use acrylic paint, but I didn't have any and I wanted to finish it tonight.

The marker worked ok but I had to go over it twice and if it wasn’t dry it would erase (like a dry erase marker) when I pulled up the stencil, it pulled up parts of some of the letters. Also I’m left handed, so trying to fix the letters without resting my hand on the board, was challenging haha.

Especially as a leftoe that would be hard! The marker i have i found does a bit of the opposite. I can go over it when wet to darken my writing, but if its dry it erases it! I cant do any of the faux calligraohy fonts that i love and my cursive and handwriting just isnt how i want it, so im going to end up doing a stencil too. But i at least have an idea now of something else to use in case if the marker doesnt work.. which knowing my luck, is whats going to happen once i trace it all out! Lol

You can order premade vinyl decals on Etsy! They will come ready for you to just peel the back off and stick on your chalkboard. Just make sure to measure the space you have a buy the right size.

This is awesome!! Great job! I want to do something like this if we have the extra money. If not I might just ask our officiant to make a quick announcement before the ceremony begins.

Awesome thank you! If you don't mind me asking what did it cost? I don't have access to Etsy right now because I am at work lol

Mine was 28$ but they can be anywhere from like 20-80 depending on the size ... obviously the ones that are like 80 are huge - but they have free shipping and It came really quick!
