diy Uplighting and Pipe and Drape

HarrisEverAfter, on January 24, 2018 at 10:49 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

I am having my reception and ceremony in the same venue. While the reception space is lovely, the ceremony room is not cute. It's a room for meetings with yellow walls and pictures that the venue refuse to move for the ceremony. I had an idea for pipe and drape to cover the walls. I got a quote to DIY pipe and drape the room myself for a third of the price that the venue is charging. I was thinking about utilizing the wedding party to help install and take it down. Do you think that it's too much to ask of them to do? How long will it take to pipe and drape a room that 30 ft. x 30 ft.? Disregard uplighting inquiry.

I'd get another quote. Putting up is one thing. Taking down after is a different story. Do you have the ladders?

Taking it down after a few drinks will not be fun. And frankly I’ve seen people magically disappear when it was time for cleanup.

rentmywedding.com has some DIY options for pipe and drape and up lighting if you haven’t checked there yet

Yeah it is not polite to ask your BP to work on your wedding day. You could probably hire a few people (or see if your DOC knows anyone that you could hire, if you have one) and still be under what the venue was charging. I think the company that provides the DIY will give you a better idea of how many people this takes and how long it would take.

The ceilings are 8 feet high, so I don't think we need ladders.

Yes, I have looked at rent my wedding but didn't like their options. The diy would be for before and after the ceremony before the reception.
