diy uplights

Rachelroni, on November 19, 2013 at 1:31 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

So I found a great post on diy uplights, that I'm going to try. You use flashlights and shoe boxes. Has anyone done this?

How would you change the white light to blue, green etc?

You could by colored LED flashlight bulbs and switch them out in the flashlight. You might also want to look into the Nite Ize Flashlight Spotlit LED, that allows you to change the colors through a color spectrum. I'm not sure how, but you could look it up.

There's something called "gels" that lighting designers use to change the color of a light, but they're pretty expensive. I wonder if colored saran wrap would work the same way though? Now would be the time to try it, since I only see colored saran wrap around the holidays.

Colored celophane over the flashlight - like the kind you would wrap gift baskets in. I would secure with a rubber band

@MRS_Mikec thanks so much! I just looked it up and it's only $190 for ten lights, which is really all I would need. I'm totally going that route.

Rental wireless uplights are probably the easiest way to go. Then you don't have to deal with cables or worrying about power. Just set it and forget. It's easier than dealing with each light on a one and one basis for getting the color just right.
