DIY Venue in NC/VA/MD?

Cassie, on August 15, 2014 at 11:41 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

Hey!

I want to have an almost completely DIY wedding (make my own food, make the decorations, etc). All the venues I can find offer all these services and, hence, the prices are SO high. Does anyone know of a true DIY venue? The cheaper the better. I'm open to anywhere from NC to MD (my family/friends are kind of scattered). Thanks, everyone!

Have you tried city parks or arboretums? No matter the city, they always have spaces to rent that may come with bonuses like floral settings or gazebos. Plus they are almost always DIY areas.

^ what she said. Start checking the parks and rec sites for counties near you.

Thanks guys! I've looked into parks before, but most of them remain open to the public during your ceremony and I really want a private wedding (and not to be gawked at by every passer-by).

You can't do your own food there, but I had a DIY-heavy wedding at Whitlow's on Wilson in Clarendon, VA. We were able to bring in our own decorations, music, etc, and it was very reasonable. Plus it was on a Metro line, so it was convenient for guests.

I am hoping to get married in Deep Creek, MD. Maybe look into renting a large vacation house and get married in the yard? You would have privacy and your out of town guest can stay the night.

We're getting married at the Old Town Hall in Fairfax, VA. The cost to rent the hall is about $1500 depending on what you want. It doesn't include anything but tables and chairs. You can't cook there though, you can only bring food in and heat it up. We hired a caterer.

Or maybe Burke Lake Park? I saw someone decorate the amphitheater there a couple of weeks ago and it looked nice.

Check my website for other possible locations for your venue!

I'm doing Hidden River Events near ashville NC and can be customized to take out any of the "all-inclusive" items to make it DIY!! Veryyyy affordable- so much so I'm probably going to be at about 250 guests.

Edited to add- 50 people for a Saturday night wedding is 16k INCLUDING food, flowers, officiant, photography, DJ, bartender, rentals andddd on-site housing for everyone. Any other day of the week will be about 8-10k minus the housing.

Different packages are available for weddings under 50.

Were getting married at Rocky Gap State Park in Cumberland, MD in 2 weeks! Rented a pavilion right on the lake (Lakeview Pavillion) it was only $125 or something like that, so very affordable and good for DIY outdoorsy stuff. The pavilions really nice and seats 125, tables already there. The park even has a large family campground (if you like to camp) that we rented for the whole weekend but they also have a hotel resort right in the park so you get the best of both worlds. We have guests camping and staying in the resort! Definitely worth checking out!

    Hello,

Brandy Hill Farm in Culpeper, VA, is a family owned farm and, because we are a new wedding venue and just starting out, we can give you a reasonable rate. We just rent out the farm and everything else is DIY.

As referred from above, please check out out our website at

    www.brandyhillfarm.com.

    Thank you!
